When the sun sets this evening, we will receive the new month of Shevat.

"The month of Shevat is the eleventh month counting from Nisan. As it states in the Book of Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah), 'On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shevat...' (Yirmeyahu 1). In the general calendar year of Jewish tradition, which begins with Tishrei, it is the fifth month.

"...On the first of the month, Moshe, inspired by prophecy from G-d, began to recite the words of the Book of Devarim to Israel.

"...The later Sages have, therefore, said that the first of Shevat is comparable to the day of the giving of the Torah. Just as the sixth of Sivan, on which the Torah was given to Israel, remains forever suitable for the renewed acceptance of the Torah, similarly is the heart of the Jew newly receptive to the Torah on the first of Shevat, because on that day they began to receive the Book of Devarim from Hashem, through Moshe.

"Because the period of transmission of the Book of Devarim was this thirty-seven day interval, all the days from the first of Shevat until the seventh of Adar are especially well suited for renewed inspiration in the study of Torah and the doing of Mitzvot."

Shalom to Klal Yisrael~

I haven' t blogged here in quite some time - in almost a year, in fact. Chaval that the last post left the pictures of bloodthirsty murderers of Jewish mother, father, children and infant on display for all this time. I hadn't realized. And it's going on a year now since the massacre of the Fogel Family in their home in Itamar. Also, chaval that there is no Torah government to impose the death penalty upon them. Hashem should see to the justice in this matter!

With G-d's help, bl'i neder, I will try to get back into the swing of things and begin to post more frequently. I think that we, the Jewish people, have had real Torah Judaism assimilated right out of our systems by the predominate Western culture and that it is crucial that we try to purge this foreign element from our minds and renew right-thinking in preparation for receiving Mashiach Tzidkeinu.

Hashem has designed His world so that we are in partnership with Him. Every action on His part requires some kind of action from us. We had to kill the lambs and put the blood on the doorposts. Nachshon ben Aminadav had to jump into the sea before Yam Suf split for us, etc. We are not going to simply sit on the sidelines and watch as Hashem does it all by Himself or as Mashiach does everything for us. Something is going to be required of you and me in the coming days and weeks and months. This is the time to prepare ourselves for this in every way possible.

Why Good Jews Hate the Arabs

Very simply, we have to. They are the enemy and we are at war.

"Palestinian youths from Awarta" who confessed to the massacre of the Fogel Family in Itamar and said if they'd known there were two children that they missed, the would have killed them, too. We should have no doubt of that.

According to a recent poll, one-third of their brethren openly agreed with what they did. (The remainder do so privately.) So this is why all good Jews hate the Arabs. They are bloodsthirsty murderers of innocent, peace-loving men, women and children. It's a mitzvah to hate evil. We have to hate them in order to eradicate them so that innocent, peaceful, loving, law-abiding people can live.

The Jews put out their hands in friendship to the Arab and pulled back a bloody stump. Such people must be thrown out of the house. We cannot continue to share it. It's US or THEM!

Have a happy and kosher Pesach and try to remember why we are here.

Grocery Chain Told to Rehire 'Violent' Arab Workers

A grocery store that fired 21 Arab workers at once must hire them all again, Justice Ravit Tzaddik of the Tel Aviv District Labor Court ruled Sunday. The store was accused of racial discrimination in the firings.

'Workers were Violent, Made Threats'
Store managers at the Kimat Chinam branch in Modiin said the Arab workers in question created an atmosphere of violence and intimidation, threatened customers and fellow workers with physical violence, and were involved in sexual harassment in the workplace.

Some of the workers even bragged that they were involved in the murder of five members of the Fogel family in Itamar, and did so in the presence of Jewish workers and customers, management said.

They denied that the firings were motivated by the workers' ethnic background. Six Arab workers remain at the store in question, and almost 25% of workers at the Kimat Chinam network are Arab, they said, “So we cannot be considered a company that discriminates between its workers.”

...The suit against the firings was brought by Attorney Ina David Sultanovich, on behalf of the Ministry of Trade and Labor's Equal Opportunities Commissioner. The Commissioner, Tziona Kenig-Yair, was formerly Director of the Women's Lobby, which is funded by the controversial New Israel Fund.

...Minister of Trade and Labor Shalom Simchon praised the ruling. The ruling sends a clear message to employers that the government will not tolerate racism, he said. “We see absorbing Arab employees in the workplace as being of utmost importance,” he said. “We will continue to work to prevent discrimination against them.”

This is the bitter fruit of democracy which is a curse on Am Yisrael. This is the poison of Western cultural "values" which are eating us up alive. It's time to throw democracy and western values onto the trash heap and replace this evil regime with one modeled on our own Torah traditions based upon the most just and most merciful laws ever created---our Holy Torah.

One Mashiach or Two?

Dear Bnei Yisrael---children of Ya'aqov Avinu,

It has been a few months since you have heard from me. Like you, I am busy everyday working to keep body and soul together; shlepping the groceries and paying the bills. I try to learn something everyday and work at my relationship with my Creator and try to improve myself (which is a never-ending job because there are so very many ways I need improving!). All of us are human beings doing what human beings were created to do and it takes a lot of time and energy and thought.

However, our souls whisper to us that so much more awaits us, not just in the World-to-Come, but right here on Planet Earth, when we are finally zocheh, by Hashem's great mercy, to transition into Days of Mashiach.

Which Mashiach? you may ask. After all, there are two, no? Mashiach Ben Yosef (MBY) followed by Mashiach Ben David (MBD). Rabbi Aryeh Carmell in the name of the Maharal of Prague says that MBY refers not only to a person, but to a process, which can be identified with the current State of Israel since 1948. We can expect that in the future, the State of Israel will transition into the Kingdom of Yisrael. No one is looking for a second State of Israel to materialize on some other soil. So, I ask, why expect a second Mashiach?

I rather think that MBY, who comes in every generation to redeem Bnei Yisrael, if they are worthy, will, when that blessed time arrives, finish his role as MBY and transition into the role of MBD, just as we expect the process of secular statehood to evolve into Torah kingdom.

The Prophet Yechezkel prophesied about this and it is recorded in the 37th chapter of his prophecies in Tanach. Hashem told him to take a stick for Yosef and all the tribes associated with him (this was during the time that the nation was split North and South) and another stick for Judah and the tribes associated with him, and put them together in his hand as ONE stick. Rashi says that the two sticks represent MBY and MBD. I maintain that this does not describe two different people, but two aspects---two missions---of one person, for the Prophet goes on to say that Hashem has told him that he should explain to the people that the two sticks will be ONE in his hand and that it represents the whole nation united as ONE, never again to be separated into two, and ONE king shall rule them.

And this is, I believe, why we are told to pray that MBY does not die, because if he dies without becoming MBD that means we were another generation unworthy of redemption and will now have to wait for another to appear.

In past generations, this is exactly what happened. But, today, we are already near the end of the time allotted to this reality and whether we deserve it or not, Hashem is going to bring the redemption, for his own Name's sake. That means that MBY no longer needs to die without becoming MBD.

As MBY, he will defeat Edom and as MBD, he will defeat Yishmael and from both aspects, he will eliminate the Erev Rav.

Probe Urged Into Tzefas Rabbi For Alleged Racism

The Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) has demanded that Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein launch a criminal investigation against Safed’s Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu for incitement to racism. The demand comes after Eliyahu’s recent halachic adjudication against selling or renting out apartments to Arabs. A conference on the same theme was held last week by Eliyahu and fellow rabbis who share his view.

“These sentiments are prohibited by law, and worse tenfold when they are expressed by a public figure in an official capacity – as Rabbi Eliyahu is,” the IRAC wrote to Weinstein. “The exploitation of the religious and public status given to a city rabbi, and using the money of the religious council [which hired the convention hall where the conference was held] in order to express racist opinions, severe enough by themself, necessitate your urgent probe.” (With thanks to Yeshiva World News)

The Struggle Between Rebels and Loyalists

I came across an article on Ynet this morning that set me to thinking. It's entitled "Rabbis committed to Torah, not democracy." Check out this quote:

"Professor Yedidya Stern...vice president of the Israel Democracy Institute, agreed that rabbis have the right to free speech, just like any other citizen, but warned against a situation where they present their positions as 'the Torah's position' and a source of binding Jewish law."

I mean, is it not the job of a rabbi to present "the Torah's position"? And is any rabbi worthy of the title going to present a position which is contrary to the Torah's position? And what the man is saying essentially is no matter what position the rabbi takes, it is to be considered only his opinion carrying no more weight than any other "citizen."

This is the fundamental problem with democracy as I see it.

Allow me to backtrack a bit. Most people have bought into the lie that each generation is higher than the previous one. But our sages tell us otherwise---that each generation is lower. Technological "advancement" does not equate to quality of life. But that's a subject for a different blog.

Democracy is seen as the pinnacle of Western contributions to world improvement. Did you ever stop to ask yourself if it's true? I don't believe it is and I'll tell you why. Under democracy, each man sees himself as his own little god; his own ultimate authority. That authority is expressed in his vote. Everyone is entitled to his opinion which is sacrosanct. Freedom to do just as one pleases is the ultimate value of a democracy.

In a democracy, there is no absolute right or wrong. There is only what the majority will allow. It fosters chaos and nowhere is that more apparent than in countries where the world's foremost democracy---America---has gone about destabilizing regimes in order to spread democracy around the world. They do it, not out of any care for the people as they claim, but because it is easier to manipulate democracies for their own benefit. We see in Israel's parliamentary democracy how the government is paralyzed because of party politics and unable to accomplish anything of value. The politicians, when they aren't accumulating their ill-gotten gains for the time when they are out of office are spending the rest of the time positioning themselves to remain in office.

The Creator designed the perfect government for mankind. It is described in the Torah and exemplified in the reign of King Solomon. When Mashiach comes, democracy in Eretz Yisrael will be thrown out the window. Mashiach will be a King subject to the checks and balances of the Sanhedrin.

Those who cannot accept this are rebels who are inspired by their own arrogance. They refuse to submit themselves to the rule of Torah law as revealed by their Creator and they will find no place among those who do; those who are loyal to HKB"H, King of all kings; those who are sincere when they repeat the Sh'ma twice daily and say, "...malchuto l'olam va'ed."

When we were still mired in the mud of the Diaspora, we longed for the day that we would stand upright once more on our own soil, on the holy land of Eretz Yisrael, where we would once again be masters of our own fate, answerable only to HKB"H. Then, we would be free of the missionary's harangue and the imam's rant.

Finally, Hashem answered our prayers and He brought us home. Some called it the Zionist dream, but it became a nightmare as the muddy exile was dragged into the heart of Eretz Yisrael, the Erev Rav ruling over us in accordance with its infatuation with Western ideals and norms, which stand in contradistinction to the laws of our Holy Torah. The imams and the missionaries were welcomed to live amongst us here in our own holy land, where they continue to harangue and rant and incite and attack us, just as they did in all the lands of our dispersion.

Missionary Convicted of Striking Jewish Man

A Christian missionary who did not “turn the other cheek,” but rather struck a Jewish man in Arad who was demanded that the missionary not film him, was convicted Sunday of assault and causing damage to his victim. Sentencing will take place at a later date.

According to the complainant, the missionary was filming the scene in the Arad business center, while he and a partner distributed missionary materials. The victim demanded that the missionary not film him as passed through the center, but the latter refused. An argument broke out between the two, and at one point the missionary stuck the victim hard across his ear, dislodging and damaging his hearing aid. In court, the victim said that he had wanted to ensure that people did not mistake his appearing in the film the missionary was apparently preparing as support for their activities. After several witnesses spoke up for the victim, the court convicted the missionary.

Children of Israel, the day will come when the Erev Rav regime no longer extends its protection to our haters and destroyers. You must be prepared to carry out the will of your Father in Heaven as it is taught in our Holy Torah:

Yeshayahu 27.9---"Therefore, with this shall Jacob's iniquity be atoned for, and this is all the fruit of removing his sin; by making all the altar stones like crushed chalkstones; asherim and sun-images shall not rise."

When Mashiach will come, the crosses and crescents will be toppled and crushed!

Have you wondered why it seems to always be davka at this time of year that new pressure is applied upon us to make peace with our enemies? We know that Rosh Hashana is the birthday of the world and the coronation of the King of kings and also Judgment Day for the whole world. But did you ever think of it as the season for making peace?

If we are doing our spiritual work correctly, we will be going to everyone we have wronged and apologize or make restitution and ask for forgiveness. What is this if not making peace amongst ourselves? And when we have done that, then we go before HaKadosh Baruch Hu on Yom Kippur and do the same thing and make peace with our Father in Heaven.

This is really the message that Heaven wants the Jewish Poeple to receive at this time of year, but because the nations are so very impure, the message they project comes out perverted into making peace with those who would destroy us, God forbid!

If every Jew would simply humble himself and put his own ego into submission before Hashem who is ONE (Aleph), then we could instantly turn this dark and bitter exile (גולה) into redemption (גאולה).

In this season of shalom, may the Holy One grant his perfect peace to all good Jews everywhere. Amen!

If only there really were shalom in our world, but the day will come according to the promise of the Holy One. Until then, we must fight the battle and not get tired or discouraged. Peace will surely come.

Until then we must understand that we are at war. And we must be fully cognizant of who the enemies are. And we must not be afraid to say so.

I've been reading the various reactions to the renewal of terror on the roads. My own precious children travel those roads! I cringe when I read that the proper response to these attacks is to build more. This warped, galutish thinking must stop! This is the inane babbling of a slave people who have no other recourse. Raise your eyes above the gutter where your psyche is living and see what a free people does.

And you who say "deport" the monsters. How humane you are to mass murderers! You've assimilated Western thinking so well.

The ideal is for mass murder to be met with mass murder. Do the holy words of Torah that you hear every week go only in one ear and out the other?

This evil Erev Rav regime which aids and abets the mass murder of Jews and the evil Eisavian regime in Washington which arms and trains them....if we do not bring them to the justice that they so richly deserve, then the Master of the Universe will.

Letter from a Giyoret

We have a Torah mitzvah not to oppress or hurt the convert,

RAMBAM---Negative Mitzvah 252: It is forbidden to hurt a convert's feelings
Exodus 22:20 "You shall not wrong a stranger." A "Ger" (or "Giyoret") is a person who converted to Judaism and took upon him-or herself to keep the Torah and Mitzvot. We are commanded not to hurt his feelings or say anything that may cause the Ger to be embarrassed or feel uneasy.

With that in mind, read the following letter which I received from a giyoret asking why so many Jews from the so-called "National Camp" had become so deeply involved with Christian missionaries. She gave me examples that would no doubt shock those who are unaware of this tragic problem that is running rampant like a plague among the klal.

Dear MW,

I am crushed; crushed under the weight of a nightmare that doesn’t end. When I was yet a small child, my parents, with the best of intentions, sent me to a school once a week and two weeks in the summer, where I was indoctrinated into a cult. They brainwashed me, lied to me, told me that my father would die a horrible death if I could not convince him to believe the lies that they had force-fed to me. They made me believe night was day and light was dark.

Like some kind of intellectual or spiritual pedophiles, they sought out children especially---preyed upon them by way of the school and the summer camp and parties that they would throw to lure in new members. They held me captive in the darkness of their lies for thirty years of my life. Then, with God’s help, I saw a small light that was struggling to survive. It was enough to guide me out of the maze of deception and set me free from the bonds of this cult and I escaped.

I was so traumatized by the experience that I wanted to put as much distance as possible between me and the cultic pedophiles. I wanted to live and breathe in the light of day and cling ferociously to the truth for the rest of my days. So, I said good-bye to everyone and every place I had ever loved and went to the place where the light of truth shines brighter than any other place on earth. I found a family whom I felt I could trust and they took me in and made me like one of their own. In time, the cult caught up with me. They infiltrated my new home. They dressed like the natives of the land and spoke the new language and pretended to have the light though the darkness remained at the core of their being.

I began to see them everywhere. There was no place I could go to escape them. But the nightmare really started again when I came home and they were sitting at my table. My new family had accepted them into our home and began to enumerate for me all their wonderful qualities and to tell me how fortunate we were that they had come to us offering friendship because no one can have too many friends.

I tried to warn them; my new family. I cried and I told them how much it hurt me to have the nightmare thrust back upon me in so cruel a fashion. They laughed at me and told me I just didn’t know them; that these were really good people. Each time the cult arrived to visit, they brought money with them; money and more money.

My new family went into business with the cult and began traveling all the way to the other side of the world to visit with the cult and teach them the secrets of the light. No matter how hard I tried, I could not convince them that the darkness needs the light as a disguise to lure in more innocents like myself. And then I saw the children and I wondered who would protect them from this evil cult. They won't stop until the whole earth is corrupted with their perversion of the truth. And now they are targeting my last hope to raise my own children in the light.

This is why I sit crushed today under the weight of a nightmare that won’t end. The cult is insatiable and its lies are so easy to swallow especially when they come wrapped in the sweet money. Someone tell me. Is there really no hope to live free of the cult of Christianity?

It saddened me to have to answer her as follows...

"...Not until Mashiach comes. But when he does, look out!! All of the false cultic religions and those who are attached to them will be swept away!"

A Great Engulfing Darkness Descends

A major source of tremendous Torah light has been extinguished from our midst. HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu, the Rishon L'Tzion, ztz"l, has passed from this world into the next and we are sadder and poorer and in much more danger as a result.

Dear Children of Israel,

A funny thing happened to me on the bus the other day. Two Muslim Arab women got on and they asked the driver if his bus goes to Al Quds. The driver didn't understand what they said, so they repeated it a couple of times, "Al Quds! Al Quds!" The driver just looked clueless and someone behind him said, "They mean the Old City." Just then I shouted out from the middle of the bus, "There's no such place as Al Quds, only Yerushalayim!" I repeated myself when it seemed that no one heard, but I might as well have been a fly on the wall.

On a different day, I saw something which made me think of that phrase "only in Israel." I was on a bus which was waiting in a line of traffic opposite a kiosk, when right there on the side of the four-lane highway stood a man in tallit and tefillin with siddur in hand, davening for all he was worth. A couple passed in front of him and went into the kiosk. Then the man laid his siddur on a chair next to the entrance (facing the direction of the Temple Mount) and went inside to help them. it was the kiosk owner, taking care of his business while he davened the morning service. What a sight to warm the heart!

Now, repeat after me..."There is no such place as Al Quds. There is no such country as Palestine. There is no such people as Palestinians."

Hirsch Was Wicked Man

Nationalist activists slammed Neturei Karta leader Moshe Hirsch who passed away Sunday.

Rabbi of the city of Safed, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu said that Hirsch should be buried outside the cemetery boundaries just as suicides and violent criminals are buried. “This man separated himself from the Jewish people. The name of the wicked should rot,” he said. Meanwhile nationalist activist Itamar Ben Gevir said that “Hirsch was a wicked man who was an enemy of Israel.”

The realists and the pragmatists of our times would have us believe that we "must" sacrifice large chunks of our holy land (and possibly even Jerusalem itself!) for a non-existent "peace" or for the continued support of our erstwhile patron---the United States.

I don't know about you, but I won't be able to celebrate wholeheartedly until our borders look more like this and we have a leader who tells the whole world if they don't like it, tough! We don't need anyone but HaKadosh, Baruch Hu!

Spiritual significance

The number has also been associated with the impending salvation of Israel, with some mystically-inclined commentators noting that the number of Jews in the newly declared State of Israel in 1948 was roughly 600,000, and that the number of IDF soldiers in the Six Day War was also about the same....

The world as we presently know it is on its way out and we must prepare ourselves for the new reality. Hashem told us, "In it's time I will hasten it." We are seeing this happen right now as talk about "evacuating settlements in the West Bank" has given way immediately to the forfeiture of Yerushalayim Ir HaKodesh, G-d forbid!

Behold the "American Vision" of our future:

...the solution will come in the form of a return to the 1967 borders with territorial tradeoffs, rejection of the Palestinian right of return, the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian state, and the introduction of shared administration of the Holy Sites.

...“The United States recognizes that Jerusalem is a deeply important issue for Israelis and Palestinians, and for Jews, Muslims, and Christians. We believe that through good faith negotiations the parties can mutually agree on an outcome that realizes the aspirations of both parties for Jerusalem, and safeguards its status for people around the world.”

The United States has set itself in direct opposition to the Master of the Universe, Who has other plans.

The entire redemptive process has been coming b'derech teva in stages. First, we returned and began to rebuild. Then we established Jewish rule in Eretz Yisrael. Only after some more time did Holy Jerusalem return to our hands, but we were still cut off from Har Habayit. As the dry bones prophecy of Yekhezkel reveals, the body comes together piece by piece, layer by layer until it stands complete and then Hashem pours out His Spirit within it. We are poised to make this leap into the new reality when the Shekinah returns and the Third and Final Beit HaMikdash will be operational.

With every advance in the process Hashem has returned more and more of our Holy Land to us. The next major war will be the final war. At the end of it, not only will we have complete control of the Temple Mount, but our land area will have increased as well to include the EAST Bank of the Jordan River.

In Chapter 50 of the writings of Yirmiyahu HaNavi, we see that there is a final end for Babylon, which is being accomplished in our own time with the current war in Iraq:

...Tell among the nations and let it be heard and raise a standard; let them hear and do not hide it. Say, "Babylon has been taken, Bel has been shamed, Merodach is dismayed, her images have been shamed, her idols have been dismayed. For a nation has marched against her from the north; he shall make her land a desolation, and no one shall dwell therein; both man and beast have wandered, yea they have gone. In those days and in that time, says the Lord, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together; they shall go along weeping, and they shall seek the Lord their God. They shall inquire of Zion; their faces are directed hitherward. "Come and join the Lord [with] an everlasting covenant that shall not be forgotten."

My people were lost sheep, their shepherds caused them to stray, [to the] mountains [they] led them astray; from mountain to hill they went, they forgot their resting place. All who found them devoured them, and their adversaries said, "We are not to blame because they sinned against the Lord, the habitation of justice and the hope of their forefathers-the Lord."

...For behold I am arousing and bringing up upon Babylon an alliance of great nations from the north land, and they shall set themselves in array against her, from there she shall be taken; ....Therefore, so said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel; Behold I visit retribution upon the king of Babylon and upon his land, as I visited upon the king of Assyria.

And I will return Israel to his dwelling and he shall pasture in the Carmel and the Bashan, and in Mount Ephraim and Gilead shall his soul be sated. In those days and at that time, says the Lord, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought, but it shall not be there, and the sins of Judah, but they shall not be found, for I will forgive those I leave over.

It is in this context of Babylon's final downfall that we see the promised return to ALL the Land of Israel. Carmel is west of the Jordan River, Bashan is east of it. Mount Ephraim is west of the Jordan River, Gilead is east of it.

Our best days are still ahead of us, Children! The entire world as well as many Jews, chas v'chalilah, believe that this "Palestinian State" and the forfeiture of all of Hashem's promises to us are a foregone conclusion. Nothing could be further from the Truth!!

Prepare, Children, Prepare! You will yet see the complete fulfillment of everything b'yameinu---in OUR days!!

Dear Children of Israel,

Are you watching, along with me, the unfolding of our ultimate redemption? It is happening right before our eyes. Redemption involves revelation. It brings increasing spiritual light which exposes the truth to the world. Things which were previously well-hidden now can find no place to hide. Everything is out in the open---our enemies' hatred; their true intentions; their nefarious plans. Only the willfully blind can fail to see it.

The United States has been stripped of his false friendship mask. There remains no longer any excuse for American Jews not to see the true nature of this beast. (I'm writing, of course, as if you are informed about what has been taking place over the past week since the Vice President's visit.) Everything is now centering on Holy Yerushalayim. This is the sign that we are nearing the end of our thousands-of-years wait.

Security is high and a "West Bank" closure is in effect as the Arab leaders agitate and foment violence over the inauguration of a rebuilt synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Prime Minister holes up in his inner sanctum, content to address the people via video link. He is the Prime Minister of Fear as he trembles before the Americans and his own people---afraid to build in Jerusalem (the US forbids it), afraid not to (the people demand it); afraid to attack Iran (US forbids it), afraid not to (Iran wants to annihilate Israel with a nuclear bomb). A man with no faith is paralyzed by fear.

But something else---Someone else---stands to be revealed in this dawning light of redemption. The Master of the Universe is poised to reveal his glory to an unbelieving, unrepentant world and then the level of fear will escalate to unimaginable levels worldwide. Everyone and his wicked heart and his evil deeds will stand exposed as on the Day of Judgement and there will be no place to hide from Hashem's face.

Prepare yourselves, Children. Today is Yom Kippur Katan and tomorrow is Rosh Chodesh Nisan, the entrance into the month of our redemption from Egypt. A lot can happen between now and Pesach! Prepare!! Don't wait until the last minute to start your search for the chametz. The way we fight the chametz (arrogance) of America and it's allies (EU, UN, etc) is by flattening our own egos into matza! (Did you notice that the ongoing accusation being hurled against Israel is that we "insulted" America?)

Nullify the ego, Children. Beat it down until not one tiny bubble of air remains to puff it up. Humble yourselves before Hashem and before your brothers and sisters. Prove to Hashem that you are His submissive servant. After all, we went from being slaves in Egypt to being slaves to Hashem. What about "freedom", you ask? The only true freedom is slavery to the Creator; submitting ourselves to the bonds of His Torah and His mitzvot.

In the merit of our humility, may we all be zoche to greet Mashiach Tzidkeinu THIS PESACH!!

In the Psalm, Shir Hama'alot, that we sing after a festive meal, there is a line that yearns for the coming of Mashiach: "Then will our mouths be filled with laughter..." When the Mashiach comes, he will come in an instant, and things will be totally turned upside down.

Just like Purim, he will come in crisis, in catastrophic reversal - hippuch. His coming will not be through gradual improvement. He will come in the darkest hour... which is always just before the dawn.

The bitter/sweet humor of the Jewish People will then be transformed to a sweet/sweet humor. There will no longer be an elegiac quality to it. Ridicule will be deposed from its throne of idiocy. Our mouths will be filled with laughter. It will be a laughter of discovery, a laughter of total realization.

Then we will see how all the pieces in this Comedy of the Absurd called Life fit into place.

Then we will laugh the last laugh."

Like Moshe was Molded by Women, Women Mold the Mashiach

On Zayin Adar (this year, February 21) we celebrate the birthday and the day of Moshe Rabbeinu's passing. At this time, Moshe's mazal (spiritual influence) shines most powerfully, and as the leader of Israel, he draws down Hashem's blessings to all of us.

Since seven represents a complete cycle, the seventh of Adar inspires us to serve Hashem in a complete manner. The Chatam Sofer compares Moshe, the first redeemer, to the final redeemer. We learn from Michah 7:15: As in the days of your Exodus from the Land of Egypt, I will show you wonders, that the redemption from Egypt is the prototype of the Final Redemption.

Moshe, who was the leader of the Jewish people during the Exodus, is the prototype of Mashiach. The midrash gives an example of how Mashiach parallels Moshe. Just like Moshe took his wife and children and made them ride on the donkey, so too, will Mashiach ride on a donkey (Kohelet Rabah 1:28). Just like it was the women in his life (Miriam, Yocheved, Bitya and Tziporah) who made Moshe into the leader of Israel, so is it the women who will bring about and mold the final redeemer.

Tziporah's role in molding Moshe is highlighted through the gematria (numerical value) of her name which equals "for Moshe". Moshe had an additional name, Tzipor. These same letters also spell tzaf or the light floated - as Moshe Rabbeinu saw Tziporah's light float.

Information as a Weapon

Dear Children of Israel, I received the following comment from Warren Burstein:

[Mr. Burstein] "Why don't you tell us about what you're planning to do in this battle (the real person writing this blog, not what Moshiach's wife might do). Or is your role restricted to urging others to."

Following is my response:

Thank you for your comment, Mr. Burstein because it shows that I did not accomplish my goal here. If you can ask such a question, perhaps others also did not understand, so allow me to make another attempt and if it is still not clear, please do write again.

First let me point out that the essence of truth does not change just because people perceive it to be untruth and by the same token, a lie does not cease to be a lie just because the majority of people believe it to be the truth.

We are so far into the redemptive process and the brightening of the sky, i.e. the revelation of truth, has been so gradual, we have barely taken notice of it. Heaven is shouting, as it were, and we have simply tuned it out. But if we choose to open our eyes to see and our ears to hear, we will be amazed that all the answers are right in front of us.

This period of history has been dubbed The Information Age and we have been hearing for a decade that there is a war on for "hearts and minds." Mr. Burstein, OUR WAR IS A WAR FOR HEARTS AND MINDS AND OUR WEAPONS ARE INFORMATION AND EDUCATION.

I have been an active participant in this war for eleven years now. I learn and I pass on what I have learned and encourage others to follow that path. The only way to fight for the World of Truth while living in the World of Lies is with TRUTH---TORAH TRUTH.

But know this! It is not enough to learn and know. And it is not enough to teach others what you know. KNOWLEDGE DEMANDS ACTION. It cannot be that we will learn who the Erev Rav are and learn to identify them and then not separate from them.

Here is an important lesson. The klipot can only exist while attached to kedusha. The Jewish neshama is the ultimate kedusha in this world. When the klipot are separated from the Jews, they lose all their power and they collapse.

This happened in Mitzrayim when the Jews left, which is why those who did not want (or intend) to leave had to die in the plague of darkness, because it was the will of the Creator that Egypt collapse.

This is one explanation for the Shoah. Hitler, y"s had the support of the German people, but he only had the power to take over the world from the kedusha of the Jews living under his rule. When he managed to kill them all or send them fleeing elsewhere, all his great power collapsed.

We should be able to extrapolate lessons for today as well. Eisav has to fall. This exile must end. The Jews of Russia, Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, etc. MUST LEAVE or G-d forbid, Hashem will take them out some other way [Yechezkel 20.38---"And I shall separate from you those who rebel and those who transgress against Me; from the land of their sojournings I shall take them, but to the land of Israel they shall not come, and you will know that I am the Lord."] When the Jews will leave the West, Eisav's power will collapse completely. This is one goal of the great tide of antisemitism sweeping through Europe--to send the Jews fleeing out of there. This is the great danger of remaining in the exile past the time that Hashem wills it to end.

And when the Jews of Eretz Yisrael will know and understand the power that they have over the Erev Rav, its power, too, will collapse. Because its power comes only from the kedusha of true Jewish neshamas. This is why the Erev Rav could not gain a foothold in Eretz Yisrael until first, people like the GRA"S students came and settled in the Holy Land.

When we will know (INFORMATION) and understand (EDUCATION) and act (SEPARATION), Heaven will help and we will win the war which will bring about the revelation of Mashiach Tzidkeinu; the unification of G-d's Name and the return of the Shechina, which are all one and the same thing.

Mashiach is in great pain and he suffers constantly. He is mocked and tormented and held back from the completion of his mission by the Erev Rav who have united Eisav and Yishmael and who incite them also against Mashiach Tzidkeinu. They drive him near to the point of death and only Hashem's mercy keeps him alive.

Practically speaking, the Jews in chu"l must come home. Allow Eisav to collapse and join the battle against the Erev Rav who rule over Eretz Yisrael.

The Jews of Eretz Yisrael have to understand that the State is doomed as are all its institutions because it is corrupt and full of rot. Its foundation, as shaky as the sands of Tel Aviv, the city which represents it, is not built on the bedrock of Torah which is represented by Jerusalem, the eternal Holy City, which never moves from her place no matter how many times foreigners overrun her. The Medina is not the Nation, nor is it the Land. It is a vehicle for arriving at a certain point in history; an incubator within which the kingdom grows and matures until is it viable.

Rav Binyamin Kahane, ztz"l, Hy"d told his students to withdraw from the election process once it became clear that the Erev Rav would never allow the people to choose a Torah government democratically. And his wisdom has been proven over and over these last ten years as Moshe Feiglin has failed again and again to advance any gains from within the corrupted system.

We saw the beautiful example of the young woman from Shomron who sat in jail for months rather than give her name to the police, stating openly and proudly that she does not recognize the authority of the state courts over her.

We've seen how the IDF which the Erev Rav regime imagined to be a means to acculturize (secularize) the Torah observant has been turned against those who idolized it and tried to cooperate with it, first in Gush Katif and now with the Hesder program. If we will not voluntarily separate, Hashem will force us to separate and it will be so much more painful and tragic!

Think on this. Ponder it well. It may sound terribly wrong when heard through the filter of Western assimilation, but mark my words, this is how it is going to come about. Everything is pushing us towards this end. And it is going to be the biggest test of faith we have ever endured. We will be tempted to ask "Is Hashem among us or not?" But "remember Amalek"---remember that only when we doubt can Amalek triumph over us.

Dear Children of Israel, the Erev Rav will not be rectified. They will be destroyed. And only then will the geulah shleimah arrive since they are the main hindrance to its fulfillment.

...When these shall be exterminated (the mixed multitude- Amalek), it will be as if G-d had made heaven and earth on that day; hence it is written, "On the day that G-d makes heaven and earth". At that time G-d will reveal Himself with the Shechinah and the world will be renewed, as it is written, "for as the new earth and the new heaven, etc." (Isaiah 66:22). THE EREV RAV MIXED WITH THE TRIBE OF SHIMON AND THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SINNED REGARDING THE DAUGHTERS OF MOAV

Regarding the plague (The one that afflicted the Tribe of Shimon, after the incitement of the daughters of Moav) it was for the good of Israel, so that all the Erev Rav that was mixed with Israel as it says in Tehillim (Psalms 72) SAFU TAMU MIN BALAHOT, as Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai said, that all the 24,000 that died belonged to the tribe of Shimon, from the Erev Rav that converted and attached themselves to the tribe of Shimon. And this is why it is written “And the dead were…” meaning that they had died a few times already, regarding the meat, and regarding the spies and regarding the Golden calf, etc…For Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai had explained how nobody from Israel had died and that the Jews could not come into the land of Israel until they would be cleaned and purified from all the husks. How do we combat this evil element within us? Remember that this is a war for hearts and minds. We educate and inform good Jews about how to identify the Erev Rav and then we do all within our power to separate from them and encourage others to do the same. Obviously, contrary to what we have been taught (very possibly by Erev Rav rabbis!) baseless love is not the answer. We must no longer side with them in our hearts, which is what happened at the incident with the Golden Calf...

...The Jews in general sinned with the Golden calf through thought, for when they saw how the Calf came out from the fire, they thought: Maybe there is something about the Golden Calf, but they did not sin through action for they did not make the Golden calf and they also said nothing about it, for it was made by the Erev Rav and they are the ones who said: These are your gods Israel, These are your gods and not These are our gods.

DO THIS: SEPARATE FROM THEM

From all that, we learn frightful things, that most of the Rabbanim are from the Erev Rav, and one has to fight against them with a strong war. And due to our many sins, not only that we do not fight against them but many people have a good connection with them, and build buildings and palaces for them and give them large sums of money, and they have an honorable and famous name, and the real Tzaddikim, who are connected to Hashem, sit in poverty and cannot act for the sake of Heaven properly, to increase actions for Torah and fear of heaven.

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE DECEIVERS

Rabbi Ytzchak opened and said (Psalms 37:1): “Do not pay attention to the deceivers”, Who are the deceivers? For it is not written sinners or evildoers but deceivers, for they deceive themselves and those who befriend them. Rabbi Yehuda said: Deceivers, get away from the deceivers, so that you will not befriend yourself with their acts and you will then be part of their sins. Come and see: If there was no Erev Rav those that united with Israel, that act would not have been done, and all those who died from Israel would not have died, and all that was caused upon Israel would not have been caused. And come and see that act and that sin indeed caused exile for Israel. For we learned that the Holy One Blessed be He wanted Israel to be on the level of the superior angels at that point, and to make them free from everything, free from death, free from the yoke of the other nations, as it is written CHIRUT AL HA LUCHOT; AL TIKRE CHIRUT ELA CHERUT (Free). Now that the act was done, it caused everything, it caused the yoke of other nations, it caused that those tablets were broken, it caused a few thousand to die among Israel, and all this because of associating with the Erev Rav that went along with them. EVEN THE GOOD THINGS THAT THE EREV RAV DO,HAVE TO BE TREATED WITH CONTEMPT

The root of our deficiency comes from what the Erev Rav do to us. As it is written in the Zohar: “They (The Erev Rav) damage Israel more than all the nations”. And one has to strengthen oneself with great faith (EMUNA), because Israel were redeemed from Mitzrayim only in the merit of faith, and so it will be with the future redemption, that we will need great faith because we will see how the ways of evildoers succeed… and even if we see in them (The Erev Rav) good things like Torah and tradition and good manners and in particular they make peace with everybody and peace is the foundation of everything, and it is a very good trait, even so, as in the case of a sick person that needs to have his blood extracted even though the soul is in the blood, so it will be in the days prior to Mashiach, we must reject all these people even when they have good aspects in their behavior because then will be time of Clarification and selection and this will be the trial and choice in those days. DO NOT BE DECEIVED!!! The Erev Rav is all about mixture. Hashem commands us to be holy, i.e. to be set apart or separated out from the unholy! The Erev Rav would have us mix up with everyone. If you see or hear a "Jew" encourage and advocate for unity with Eisav or Yishmael or the Erev Rav...he is himself part of the Erev Rav and must be avoided at all costs.

It is precisely the study of the Holy Zohar, in these passages which describe for us the battle against the Erev Rav, that we will find the way to bring Mashiach and the Final Redemption.

Our Great rabbis through all generations, taught that the complete redemption depends precisely on the study of the Zohar ha Kaddosh.

THE SEFER HA ZOHAR WHICH IS THE TREE OF LIFE BREAKS THE FORCE OF THE EREV RAV

And because Israel will in the future taste from the Tree of life which is this Sefer haZohar, through it they will come out of exile with mercy and it will be fulfilled upon them: “Hashem alone will have compassion on them and there is not with Him a foreign god” And the tree of good and evil, which is ISUR VE HETER; TUMA VE TAHARA will not rule over Israel anymore for their sustenance will then come only from the tree of life, for in that place there is no difficulty KUSHIA from the side of evil and no argument MACHLOKET from the spirit of impurity for it is written: “For the spirit of impurity I will make to pass away from the land”, so that the Talmide Chachamim will have no need to receive sustenance from the AME ha ARETZ, but from the side of good, that eat TAHARA CASHER VE HETER, and not from the Erev Rav that eat TUMAH PASSUL ASSUR, that they are impure, that they make themselves impure through NIDDA SHIFCHA GOYYA AND ZONA for they are sons of Lillit, and on them it is written: For from the root of NACHASH came out TZEFA… Zohar ha Kaddosh III Parashat Nasso Raaya Mehemna 124ª

Some final words:

OUR HOPE SHOULD NOT LIE ON GREAT MEN BUT ON SIMPLE JEWS

And we should not rely and hope for the great men to bring us the Redeemer with their merits and prayers because The One who looks into the hearts is The One who knows the greatness of a person and not the one who looks into the eyes. But every single Jew, even if he is not great in Torah or learning in general must fight for our Father in heaven, that He will rule over the earth and to fight for our land the heritage of our fathers, with the Mitzvot that he performs and to concentrate on every Mitzvah only on rescuing the Holy One Blessed be He and His Shechina from exile (KUDSHA BERICH CHU U SHCHINTE MIN HA GALUT). And to rescue G-d will be all his intention because it is written in the Shulchan Aruch (Yore Deah) that the rescuing of captives takes precedence from all other acts of righteousness, and it is forbidden to waste even a minute from this pursuit and if this is the law regarding a man towards another, how much more must we do this to rescue a nation and his G-d which is the main form of rescuing captives. And let no man say in his heart: “What am I and what is my measure, so that there should be strength in my Mitzvot to accomplish something like this?” Because by having the proper intention the Mitzvah acquires a great measure and great strength, if the person will concentrate to rescue the Holy One blessed be He and His Shechina from exile. Through this the year of our redemption will speedily come and we will build Zion and all the cities of Yehuda and the land of Israel, and the Honor of G-d will dwell in Yerushalaim that the Holy one will establish.

THOSE WHO FEAR HASHEM NEED STRENGTH NOT TO FOLLOW THE PATH OF DECEPTION OF THE MAJORITY

The prophet Malachi already spoke about the great hiding of the face of Hashem and the great confusion of minds and ideas before the arrival of Mashiach because the evildoers and the actions of the Satan will be successful and the trials and the strength needed will be great, and there will be no possibility of talking about the truth and about faith in front of the multitudes… Therefore the prophet said: “Then those who fear Hashem spoke each one to his fellow” that those who fear Hashem will have to strengthen themselves that they should not err and go after the mistaken people and after the majority, and one should help his fellow man and strengthen him and tell him: “Be strong” and the Holy One blessed is He who searches the heart and kidneys, will test their words. THE MAIN DRIVE OF THE EREV RAV IS TO UNIFY EISAV AND YISHMAEL AND TO SEPARATE THE TWO MOSHIACHS. THEREFORE, OUR MAIN SERVICE AND BATTLE IS TO BREAK AND TO REMOVE THE STRENGTH OF THE EREV RAV, THE K'LIPAH OF ARMELIUS THE EVIL, FROM ISRAEL; THE EREV RAV IS OUR GREATEST ENEMY, THE ONE WHO SEPARATES THE TWO MOSHIACHS.

The purpose in our bringing about the ingathering of the exiles is to set up faithful people for the sake of the unification of the two moshiachs (i.e., Moshiach Ben Yosef and Moshiach Ben Dovid) in the gates of Jerusalem. This is in order to return the Divine Presence to bring about the redemption, the true redemption and sanctification of God's Name. According to our teacher, the Vilna Gaon, z"l, we can bring about, with the help of God and through these strong people, these two moshiachs, and to learn well all the levels and their purposes in practical terms. The general purpose of the two moshiachs, Moshiach Ben Yosef and Moshiach Ben Dovid, throughout all the generations has been to protect and fight against the three 'heads' of the K'lipos, Eisav, Yishmael, and the Erev Rav. The specific role of Moshiach Ben Yosef is against Eisav who is the k'lipah of the left, the main purpose of Moshiach Ben Dovid is against Yishmael, the k'lipah of the right, and together they go against Eisav and Yishmael who are the ox and the donkey from the side of impurity. The joining of Eisav and Yishmael is the result of Armelius, the sar of the Erev Rav, who are able to destroy Israel and the entire world, may God have mercy. The main drive of the Erev Rav is to unify Eisav and Yishmael and to separate the two moshiachs. Therefore, our main service and battle is to break and to remove the strength of the Erev Rav, the k'lipah of Armelius the Evil, from Israel; the Erev Rav is our greatest enemy, the one who separates the two moshiachs. The k'lipah of the Erev Rav works only through deception and roundabout ways. Therefore, the war against the Erev Rav is the most difficult and bitterest of all. We must strengthen ourselves for this war, and anyone who does not participate in the battle against the Erev Rav becomes, de facto, a partner with the k'lipah of the Erev Rav, and was better off not being born in the first place. THE FACT THAT WE PRAISE THOSE WHO ARE WELL OFF EVEN WHEN THEY GO AGAINST G-D AND HIS MITZVOT MAKES US SAY TO OURSELVES: “IT IS USELESS TO SERVE HASHEM” G-D FORBID

The consequences of being connected to the Erev Rav are dire. We already know that we lost the first redemption over this crew. And they delay the final redemption.

HOW MANY GOOD THINGS WERE WITHELD FROM THE JEWS ON ACCOUNT OF THE EREV RAV

AHARON AND HIS TWO SONS AND THE 70 ELDERS OF ISRAEL SINNED BY KEEPING QUIET AND NOT REBUKING AND NOT SAYING SOMETHING AGAINST THE EREV RAV WHEN THEY WANTED TO MAKE THE GOLDEN CALF

Dear Children of Israel, learn now why it is that I refer to you as "Children of Israel."

THEY [the Erev Rav] FOUND AN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAVE TO ISRAEL BUT THEIR MAIN PURPOSE WAS TO CAUSE TROUBLE FOR ISRAEL.

When (vayehi) Pharaoh sent the people (ha am), G-d did not lead them in the direction of the Philistines ... (Shemos 13:17) . . . As well, it is as they [Chazal] say, that every time Israel is referred to as 'AM' (people), it is an allusion to the Erev Rav. This is why it sometimes says 'the people,' whereas other times it refers to them as the 'Children of Israel' ... [Thus, when it says "When (vayehi), a word that can denote upcoming suffering for the Jewish people; Megillah 10b) ..." [it was an allusion to the future trial by the Red Sea, which would cause] great suffering for the Jewish people [as a result of the fact that] "Pharaoh sent the people," that is, the Erev Rav. For, it was Pharaoh who sent them, and not God Who took them out. God only wanted to redeem His great nation and inheritance, but Pharaoh sent them along in order to force the Jewish people to return to Egypt. ...a tell-tale sign of Erev Rav is not what the person does, but his motivation for doing it, which is not always simple to know. However, over time it is clear which leaders serve G-d and His people 'lishmah' - for altruistic reasons - and which ones do so for the sake of some personal benefit. Thus, you can find simple, unlearned but devoted Jews who are cherished by Heaven, and intelligent and well-learned leaders who are self-serving, and despised by Heaven, especially when they fool the public and garner their respect.

THE EREV RAV DOES NOT HAVE AN OUTWARDLY SECULAR NATURE. ON THE CONTRARY, THEY CAN APPEAR QUITE RELIGIOUS AND, FOR THE MOST PART, FULFILL THE MITZVOS INCUMBENT UPON A JEW TODAY, AT LEAST EXTERNALLY. HOWEVER, THE ZOHAR ITSELF, AND THEN THE VILNA GAON, HAVE MORE TO ADD TO THIS LIST, BRINGING INTO EVEN GREATER FOCUS THE WORST OF ALL JEWISH ENEMIES THAT LIVES WITHIN. The Erev Rav are very concerned for their personal kavod. If they perceive a slight, they will scream to the high heavens for their own honor, but for Hashem's honor they have no concern whatsoever.

This is what the holy Rabbi Yehonathan Eyebeshutz, author of Yearot Devash writes there (Derush 15): “Due to our many sins, the jealousy and zealousness due to G-d have disappeared, they are turned upside down and in their place the honor and profit of the people dominate. G-d forbid if someone comes and argues or diminishes the honor of any Rabbi or a leader of a congregation or if someone violates a decree of the community concerning the communal budget and allowances, they will run after him and persecute him until the end. But if on the other hand someone comes and damages or diminishes the honor of the Torah and he raises his hand against the Torah of Moshe, they will only shut their mouth. Even the good and pious people will only go so far as to say about that person: “May his name be blotted out”. But in this case no one will suggest to persecute him and run after him to humiliate him or cause him shame. And this constitutes the length of our exile, because no one is jealous for the Jealousy and Honor of G-d.

Who Are They? (Part 3)

Dear Children of Israel, there is much more to say about the Erev Rav and their origins, characteristics and destiny, and G-d willing we will continue next week, but today, I'd like to break from that discussion to say the following. We all know that Israel is ruled by an Erev Rav regime. They are not the sum total of the Erev Rav, not by a long shot, but they are the most powerful.

I would like to jump ahead and talk a bit about what is expected of us in regard to the Erev Rav, at least this part of them, because something happened today that I feel is noteworthy.

Backtracking a bit, Rabbi Meir Kahane was Mashiach ben Yosef in his generation. You see how as the generations degrade, our Mashiach sinks lower and lower in the esteem of the nations. This is a measure of how alienated they, and we, are from the truth.

Rabbi Kahane was set to win a very large and influential number of seats in the Israeli Knesset when at the last moment, a month from the elections, Likud and Shas (those who had the most to lose) made a deal to have his party declared racist and ineligible to run. They did it and they got away with it. In response to this, Rabbi Kahane wrote a book called "Referendum or Revolution" in which he called upon the people to demand a referendum on his party's eligibility or revolt outright against the government's abuse of power and denial of the people's democratic rights. (G-d willing, perhaps we will get into that book a bit more later on.)

But we were still too timid, too unsure of ourselves, too tied in every way to the Erev Rav rabbis who would never countenance such a thing. So the Rav's mission to bring the Redemption early, failed and Hashem called him home. (This is what is meant by "pray that Mashiach ben Yosef does not die in battle.")

We were left behind to face the False Peace Process, the Oslo Accords, exploding buses, suicide bombers, raining missiles and.... Well, you've lived through most of it, so you know.

The war of this generation is primarily a battle for hearts and minds. How many times did we hear former President George Bush say this? And it became a litany in the media thereafter. That is because it was a message for us. OUR hearts and minds must be properly prepared before we can receive Mashiach.

There are no more opportunities to bring redemption early. This is the last generation, the Dor HaMidbar; those who were not born into the slavery of the nations, but were free and unhindered to begin their journey to Eretz Yisrael. Either we will prepare or we will not be allowed to remain. There are no fence-sitters in this war.

If our hearts are attached to any manifestation of this evil anti-Torah regime, then we are sick and in need of healing. It is possible to love Eretz Israel because it is a gift from Hashem and a vehicle for our mitzvot without any regard for Zionism at all. Those who love the flag and the anthem and the army and the image of Bibi and Peres collecting accolades are far, far from the One Above.

From the time of Rav Kahane, every Torah-believing Jew in the government should have left it. For one thing, the Erev Rav are klipot who parasitically feed off of the kedusha of holy Jews. Had good, Torah-loving Jews withdrawn their support completely and abandoned the Erev Rav, the government would have collapsed from internal rot.

What happens to otherwise good Jews once they join with the government instead of opposing it? Well, we see what happens from the example of MK Michael Ben -Ari:

(IsraelNN.com) MK Michael Ben-Ari, who has had no shortage of criticism for the High Court's actions and decisions, said Thursday that he condemned the shoe attack on High Court justice Dorit Beinish Wednesday. He warned, however, against making the incident into "a reason to make the court a 'sacred cow,'" that would be immune to any criticism at all.

One is forced to uphold the authority of and respect for this dangerously flawed institution. And then we see things like this:

Rabbi E. Melamed Considering Resigning

(IsraelNN.com) Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, Dean of Yeshivat Har Bracha, is considering resigning his position – in order to make sure his students don’t sit in jail.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak removed Yeshivat Har Bracha from the Hesder arrangement [a five-year program, consisting of one-third combat army service and two-thirds Torah study] last month, after Rabbi Melamed did not condemn soldiers’ in-army protests against outpost demolitions.

A Rabbi who stood up for the Torah and the halacha was first degraded and harassed and now is being pushed out of his position. All hesder soldiers should refuse to serve and should have refused to serve from the moment that the army began expelling and beating Jews.

This is a big subject. We have barely begun to touch on various aspects of it that we need to learn. G-d willing, we will attempt to continue next week. In the meantime, I will leave you with this thought for Shabbat:

THE EREV RAV ARE THORNS AND ISRAEL ARE THE ROSES AMONG THEM IN EXILE

And why did Hashem appeared to Moshe from the thorn bush? To show Moshe that He was in pain among the thorns. And even with this “And the bush would not be consumed”. For the roses, that represent his sons, that represent Israel, and that are destined to be in the exile among the EREV RAV that they are thorns. And this is the secret of (Yermiah 46:28) “Do not fear, O my servant Jacob, says the Lord; for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in due measure; yet I will not leave you unpunished”. …And the suffering that the EREV RAV inflict to the Jews in Exile accelerates the Redemption, and the calm that they have towards the Jews delays the redemption. This was the reason for what happened to Gush Katif. And it was meant to distance us from them. If we don't do it ourselves, Hashem will do it for us or we may find that we are among the Erev Rav.

Dear Children of Israel, the war which we are bidden to wage against the Erev Rav is not a reference to some 'Erev Rav' element within us. These are real people. They are the souls of the Egyptians which have been reincarnated along with the entire Dor Hamidbar in this generation.

“The Children of Israel traveled from Ramses towards Succot. There were about 600,000 adult males on foot, besides the children. The Erev Rav also went up with them”. (Shemot 12:37-38)

THE EREV RAV WERE THE SORCERERS AND MAGICIANS OF EGYPT WHO MOSHE TOOK OUT OF EGYPT IN SPITE OF HASHEM’S WARNING NOT TO TAKE THEM ALONG.

... And who were the "mixed multitude"? Were they Lydians, Ethiopians, or Cyprians? Were they not all Egyptians, and did they not all come from Egypt? If they had consisted of a mixture of many different nations, would not the plural verb 'Alu (went up) have been used instead of the singular Ala (Ex. XII, 38)? In fact, however, the "mixed multitude" consisted entirely of one people all the members of which spoke one language: namely, all the sorcerers of Egypt and all its magicians, as it is written, "And the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments" (Ex. 7, 2); for they wanted to oppose the wonderful works of the Holy One, blessed be He. When they saw the signs and the wonders which Moshe wrought in Egypt they came to Moshe to be converted. Said the Holy One to Moshe: "Do not receive them" Moshe, however, replied: "Sovereign of the universe, now that they have seen Your power they desire to accept our Faith, let them see Your power every day and they will learn that there is no G-d like You." "...the Erev Rav that left with the Children of Israel, and they were more than double the Jewish people . . . (Sha'arei HaPesukim, Shemos 1:8)"

In his book EVEN SHELOMO, the Vilna Gaon, ztk’l wrote that the selection and purification of Israel will not be complete until the Erev Rav separates from Israel completely, because they (Erev Rav) are very attached to the Jews and the Jews learn from their actions.

And the five types of Erev Rav are:
1- Those that create strife and talk Lashon ha Ra
2- Those who pursue their desires like Prostitution, etc.
3- The swindlers who pretend to be Tzaddikim but their hearts are not straight.
4- Those who pursue honor and build great synagogues to make a name for
themselves
5- Those who pursue money and strife

This is because Mashiach must fight against them and he can't do it alone. We must help him. If we are unprepared to do so, if, G-d forbid, we would even fight against Mashiach's attempts to defeat them because we do not understand the issue, then his mission is doomed to failure from the start.

"...our main service and battle is to break and to remove the strength of the Erev Rav, the k'lipah of Armelius the Evil, from Israel; the Erev Rav is our greatest enemy, the one who separates the two moshiachs. The k'lipah of the Erev Rav works only through deception and roundabout ways. Therefore, the war against the Erev Rav is the most difficult and bitterest of all. "Before the arrival of Moshiach, most of the rabbis will be from the Erev Rav, because Israel in themselves are holy, but the Erev Rav only work for their own benefit . . . wanting to rule over the public . . . "...And they are called Erev Rav, because they are the heads (leaders) of the Jews in the exile and therefore they are called RAV." (Likutim HaGRA)

"...they are the rich men living in happiness and contentment without suffering nor pain, thieves and full of bribes, that they are the judges, the leaders of the people, about whom it is written: 'And the land was filled with violence because of them', on them it is written: 'Their enemies became their heads',...." Bringing Mashiach (Part2)

Dear Children of Israel, I submit that misplaced chesed has been a greater source of trouble for the Jews than misplaced gevurah. Chesed is compared to water and we all know what damage can result from unrestrained water, from water which is not confined within set boundaries.

Were it not for Sara Imeinu’s gevurah which balanced Avraham Avinu’s chesed, he would never have separated Yishmael from Yitzchak. And were it not for Moshe Rabbeinu’s insistence on bringing the Erev Rav along with us on our way out of Mitzrayim, we would have had the geulah shleimah at Har Sinai!

The Zohar HaKadosh says:
…"The tree of the knowledge of good and evil" shall be thrust from them and shall not cleave to them or mingle with them, for of Israel it is said - "and of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ye shall not eat". This tree is the "mixed multitude", and G-d pointed out to them that through mixing with them they suffered two losses, of the first and of the second Temple, as it is said: "and on the day that you eat of it you shall surely die". They caused the Tzaddik to be left parched and desolate by the loss of the first Temple, which is the Shechinah in heaven, and by the loss of the second Temple, which is the Shechinah on earth. (Zohar ha Kadosh I 26a)

In the Tikkune Zohar (97a) it is written: “All the exile and the destruction of the Beit ha Mikdash and all the suffering, all of it came through Moshe’s acceptance of the Erev Rav, and all wicked people and evildoers in each generation come from them, meaning from their souls, for they are reincarnations of those who left Egypt and this is what the Gemara (Beitza 32) refers to: “They come from the Erev Rav”.

Furthermore: “The Erev Rav delay the redemption much more than all the nations of the World.” (Raaya Mehemna-Sefer Ha Zohar)

And then we see: The main aspect of the sin of Adam ha Rishon was that he wanted to bring close to him all the admixture of Chametz, the Erev Rav and the 70 nations and this was also the sin of Moshe Rabbeinu when he took with him the Erev Rav, and they made things worse when they made the Golden Calf. And we are still in exile, for the redeemer will not come until we will purify and separate ourselves from them. And this was also the sin of King Shlomo when he received converts. (Sefer ha Likuttim Tehillim)

Today, it is clear who is involved with trying to continue this sin by attempting to mix us up with Yishmael and Eisav or who condemn those who instinctively try to separate from evil Jews. And then they illegally play the unity card in order to get us back in line.

This must stop! We have to understand what is right and not be intimidated into backing down because of our lack of confidence in the truth. If we truly, truly wish to bring Mashiach, the most important thing we can do...right now...today...is begin to separate from the Erev Rav and stop enabling their dastardly deeds.

Dear Children of Israel, we hear all the time that unity is the most important thing. Unity above all will bring Mashiach! And many Jews have taken this a step further and they say that we must be united with our apostate brethren as well and still others go beyond that and they tell us that we must even be unified with those of the nations.

Let me tell you something very simple. Our job in this world is to cleave to our Creator so that we will become like Him and be His partner in this world. What did Hashem do immediately when he began to create? He began to make order. He began to separate things and put them in their proper places. Then what did the first man do? Immediately, he made a mixture---he mixed good and bad by eating from the Tree. What is our job now? To rectify that mistake by separating the two again.

There are mitsvot that involve separating---shatnez, etc. In the Havdalah service, we praise Hashem for separating between the holy and the profane; between light and dark; between Israel and the nations; and between the Shabbat and the six working days.

I'm here today to tell you that contrary to the majority of what you hear, the way to bring Mashiach is not through unity at all costs. First, it is through separation---from Yishmael, from Eisav and from the Erev Rav---and only then should we unify...as Bnei Yisrael. This is the only unity that counts.

THOSE WHO FIGHT AGAINST THE MASHIACH
At that same time the Holy One blessed be He will awaken his power against all the nations of the world and the King Mashiach will be known in all the world and the Kings of the world will unite to go against him and many of the evildoers of the Jewish people will unite with those nations to wage war against the King Mashiach and then the world will darken for 15 days and many of the Jews will die on those days of darkness and on this episode it is written (Isaiah 60:2) “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you”. (Zohar ha Kadosh II, 7a)

...The prophet Malachi already spoke about the great hiding of the face of Hashem and the great confusion of minds and ideas before the arrival of Mashiach because the evildoers and the actions of the Satan will be successful and the trials and the strength needed will be great, and there will be no possibility of talking about the truth and about faith in front of the multitudes…Therefore the prophet said: “Then those who fear Hashem spoke each one to his fellow” that those who fear Hashem will have to strengthen themselves that they should not err and go after the mistaken people and after the majority, and one should help his fellow man and strengthen him and tell him: “Be strong” and the Holy One blessed is He who searches the heart and kidneys, will test their words. An "Aliyah" Story

Once upon a time, a great king who ruled a vast kingdom became angry with his son, who had betrayed his noble birth and the king banished the son to a land far, far away. The son settled down and had children and his children had children. Even though the king kept careful track of where they all were and sent provisions every day for all of their needs, many of them lost all memory of their family connection to the great king known throughout the world.

The king saw that his grandchildren would soon be lost to him if he didn't do something so he called a scribe and had him write a letter to each of his offspring inviting them to return and make their home with him in the palace. Some of the them, not recognizing the name on the envelope threw it away as junk mail. Some of them went "Oh yes, I remember this. How nice." But they placed it on a pile of mail to be dealt with at a later time and went on about their daily routine.

One great-grandson, who had been wistful and restless of late, opened his letter and began to read and his eyes grew wider and wider. "I'm the great-grandson of a king? And he wants me to come and live with him in his palace?? Oh boy, will I!!" He immediately sat down to compose a reply and sent off his letter with a happy smile and a song in his heart. And he began to pack up the things he wanted to carry with him to his new home.

The next day, he set off to visit his relatives and say good-bye---his mother and father and grandmother and grandfather; his brothers and sisters and cousins and nieces and nephews. He had a million questions. Why did he not know about this family connection to the great king? Why weren't they all as excited as he was to receive the invitation to return to their homeland?

Alas, the grandparents said they were too old. His parents regretted that they had to remain behind to care for the grandparents, as well as the children who were at an awkward age for uprooting. There was a lot of yelling and shouting and jesting from the siblings and cousins who were of his age group. "Man, you believe that stuff?" one of his brothers scorned. "It's probably a scam. Next thing you know they'll be asking you for money." One of his sisters chided, "You can't be too careful. You're talking about leaving everyone and everything you've ever known and going to a place you've never even heard of to live with a great-grandfather you didn't even know you had. What if it's all a terrible mistake? You should at least check it out further before committing yourself."

Well, that sounded reasonable, the young man thought. He took leave of his family and returned to his home feeling much less sure of himself and his decision than when he had started out that morning.

Soon, a representative of the king arrived at his door to confirm the travel plans. "Ill just go have a look and see what it's all about and if I don't like it, I can always come back home," he thought, as he signed documents and accepted the travel arrangements.

A short time later, he was on his way.

Sepharadi Mashiach?

According to HaRav Ovadiya Yosef, Mashiach will be a Sephardi Jew:

Jerusalem - In his weekly shiur in Jerusalem, which focused on hilchos tekiyas shofar, HaRav Ovadiya Yosef touched on the differences between Ashkenazi and Sephardic halachic authorities.

“Every individual must follow his forefathers’ custom…Al titosh torat imecha…Elu v’elu divrei Elokim chayim. But when Moshiach comes, everybody will follow the Sephardic custom,” he said. The remark was consistent with HaRav Ovadiya’s approach and the halachic transformation he has led in the past generation, uniting Sephardic Jews under the halachic rulings of Maran Hashulchon Oruch zy”o.

It's very likely that he will be an American of Sephardi ancestry. Just like Moshe Rabbeinu grew up in the power center of Egypt, Mashiach will come out of the power center of America.

Rav Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler, ztz”l:

“The kingdom of Edom [i.e., the West] brings no other kingdom in its wake, for its power lasts until the end of This World as we know it — until the days of Mashiach…. That is to say, the kingdom of Mashiach comes forth and is revealed through the kingdom of Edom. Through the destruction of the kingdom of Edom, the kingdom of Heaven arises and is revealed — ‘and the rulership will be attributed to Hashem.’ The destruction of Edom will come only through the destruction of this world.

When HaKadosh Baruch Hu brings the world to a state in which the foundations of life in this world collapse; peace of mind will be undermined; individual life will turn to worry, fear, and suffering; and the whole world will stand in fear of havoc and destruction, then all will see that man’s vanity and pride in his progress and supposed conquest of the material world only lead to perdition. Then they will recognize the nullity and futility of life in This World when it is devoid of any spiritual content, leading only to ruin. When man loses hope of achieving his wants and desires, then the light of Mashiach will be revealed” (Michtav MeEliyahu III, p. 205).

All one has to do is open his eyes and look around him to see that the entire world is in the midst of a great transformation. We are slowly, but surely transitioning from one reality to another. At the conclusion of the process, nothing will be the same as it was.

Democracy is considered to be the most advanced form of government in the world today. Yet, it has many flaws. Despite its flaws, it has allowed Jews a lot of religious freedom in the nations of their dispersion and for that reason alone, Jews have been enamored of it. Unfortunately, it does not work in Eretz Yisrael. Rather than liberating, this form of government in Israel is confining and destructive.

There is an incident recorded in Tanakh which demonstrates the correct way to relate to "democratic" or "majority" decisions. From this we can surmise what Mashiach's attitude will be, for our sages said that Sancheriv would have been Gog uMagog and Chizkiyahu Hamelech would have been Mashiach, had Chizkiyahu said shira.

In the times of King Chizkiya and the prophet Yeshaya, King Sancheriv of Ashur had conquered almost the entire world. He finally came to Yerushalayim, and sent his general, Rav-Shakei, with a message to the Jews that they should submit to him. [This story is found in Melachim II ch. 18-19 and Yeshaya ch. 36-37, and is alluded to in Tehillim ch. 11.] The Gemara relates that when Rav-Shakei saw Yerushalayim, he ridiculed it and made light of it. The people of Yerushalayim were split in their attitude. One group, led by Shevna, the scribe, rationally felt that to fight the Assyrian empire was futile and was in favor of surrendering. Another group, led by King Chizkiya and supported by Yeshaya, did not agree to surrender.

The Gemara (Sanhedrin 26a) relates that Shevna's party was larger than Chizkiya's, 130,000 vs. 110,000. In Tehillim (11:2) it says, "For, behold, the wicked bend the bow ... to shoot in the dark at the upright of heart." The Gemara interprets this to mean that Shevna wrote a letter and shot it by arrow to Sancheriv saying, "Shevna and his party consent; Hezekiah and his party do not consent." His primary intention in submitting was, "to shoot in the dark at the upright of heart," to undermine Yeshaya and Chizkiya. Most of the people felt defeated, and Yeshaya tried to encourage them, "Do not speak of a faction to everything that this people speaks of as a faction; do not fear what they fear and do not be overwhelmed by it." (8:12) Even though they are the majority -- do not think that we should follow them, because they are wicked, and when there is consensus of wicked against spirit of Torah we don't follow them. Rather, "Hashem, Master of Legions, Him shall you sanctify; He is Your Reverence and He is your strength." (8:13) We should not pay any attention to the agreements of the wicked, but rather fear only Hashem. It was that minority that believed in the spirit of the nation that ultimately prevailed.

This is the Spirit of Mashiach which should sweep us off our firm footing in non-Torah "values" like democracy---a Greek word for a Greek concept.

"Anti"-Mashiachs

Interestingly, the three “monotheistic” faiths all share a belief in Mashiach. The Christians believe that their Messiah will come and convert the entire world to Christianity. The Muslims expect their Mahdi to come and convert the entire world to Islam. Meanwhile, the Jews are expecting the Mashiach to arrive and make G-d’s name ONE in the world that He created, thereby bringing all mankind to the knowledge of the Truth. It’s not about making the whole world Jewish, but about sanctifying G-d’s name; rectifying the world and bringing it back to its pristine, Gan Eden state.

However, according to the Christian tradition, before the Mashiach comes, first will arise an anti-Messiah (or anti-Christ) who will fool the Jews into accepting him as the Mashiach. What this means is that they are already programmed through their book of lies to believe that the True Mashiach is an evil imposter and they will fight against him and his rule. This will mark the end of interfaith cooperation with the Evangelical Christians in Israel, and especially so once Mashiach deports all the Christian missionaries and closes the churches to idolatrous worship. Look for him to also take back the real estate holdings which the Church today claims as its own in Jerusalem and charges the Jews exhorbitant sums to “rent.”

Seeking Purity

Don't listen to the Yetzer HaRa. He'll tell you anything to get his way. And he lies!

Hashem commanded us: "Be holy, because I am holy." You cannot attain holiness and purity without disengaging yourself from Olam HaSheker---the World of Lies. This includes TV, movies and novels. Fiction and playacting belong wholeheartedly to the World of Lies and has no place in the life of holiness and purity. Immediately, the Yetzer HaRa will jump on you and tell you that there is certainly a place for such things in the World of Truth and Torah. Why, what about fiction that gives over a righteous message? What about plays that depict stories from Tanakh?

If a person is honest with himself, he knows that this is not what fills his mind and hours. When he's watching TV and movies and reading popular novels, he is filling his mind with anti-Torah images, values and philosphies. This is absolutely incompatible with a life of holiness and purity.

The Yetzer HaRa next tells you that this is for tzadikim and gedolim not for the average Jew on the street. But the Truth is that this is for every Jew, because every Jew bears the Name of G-d and is required to separate himself from the dungheap of the goyische world. Every Jew is obligated to work on himself and raise himself up level by level until he attains the exalted state that Hashem intended for him.

There is no room for compromise here. One is either dirty or clean. You can't be both at one and the same time. How it must pain our Father in Heaven when we mix our tefillah and Torah learning with these daily excursions into the Olam HaSheker and lose any gains we might have made. No wonder we are such a low generation. What's worse is that we feel no shame and often do not even care. And this pushes off the geulah shleimah.

May we each aspire to come completely out of the World of Lies and cling to Hashem's Eternal Truth alone. Until we do, we are totally unprepared to receive the great Light of Redemption.

SHOVAVIM

According to Reb Tzvi Fishman: ...It would bring the Mashiach right away, as we say at the end of prayers every morning: “And a redeemer will come to Zion and to those in Yaakov who return from sin, says the L-rd” (Yishayahu, 59:20) – who return from this sin specifically.

This is also the meaning of the words that follow, “As for Me, this is My BRIT-covenant with them, says the L-rd” (Ibid. See also, “Likutei Halachah, Tefillin 2, 11-12).

This is the path to hasten the coming of Mashiach – through Tikun HaBrit, when we repent over our sexual sins (See the Commentary of the Gaon of Vilna to the “Tikunei Zohar,” Tikun 21, Folio 56, Column 3).

Shovavim - Rectifying Sexual Transgression

Every week, Israel’s former Chief Rabbi, HaRav Rav Mordechair Eliahu, shlita, puts out a Torah bulletin for Shabbat, called “Kol Tzofiyech,” which is distributed to synagogues throughout the country.

Rabbi Eliahu has long been one of the outstanding halachic authorities in Israel. During his prolong illness, his son, Rabbi Shmuel Eliahu, the Chief Rabbi of Safed, has been delivering the weekly televised lecture upon which the Torah bulletin is based. The recent lecture is on the six-week period of “Shovavim” which begins this week. We can see from the importance that Rabbi Eliahu places on “Shovavim” that it is not something limited to Kabbalists, or a few fringe Hasidic communities, but an important and worthwhile practice for Jews everywhere.

May the learning of the laws and customs of “Shovavim,” that we are translating (in a condensed version) from the bulletin, bring a blessing of health and complete and speedy recovery to HaRav Eliahu (HaRav Mordechai Tzemach ben Mazal), along with all of the other ailing people in Israel. Amen.

PURIFICATION FROM THE POLLUTION OF EGYPT
During the next six Torah readings, we will be re-experiencing the liberation of the Jewish People from the exile Egypt and from the 49th level of impurity to which we had sunk, to the great elevation of reaching the 49th level of purity and the 50th gate with the giving of the Torah. The revered Sage, the Shlah HaKadosh, states that this period is a time of intensified tshuva for the Jewish People, as our earlier and later Sages have written. The hardships which we suffered in Egypt came to cleanse us in the purifying furnace of the exile. So too today, during the “Shovavim” period, we strive for a greater purity from the transgressions which have blemished our souls. The famous Kabbalist, the Arizal, states that the Shovavim period comes to purify us particularly from sexual transgressions, known as blemishes to the Brit. It is thus a period in rectification, known as “Tikun HaBrit.”

Just as every year on Pesach we are called to look upon ourselves as if we too had escaped from Egypt, we are also called upon to cleanse ourselves of the terrible impurity that characterized Egypt’s immoral culture. In the time of Moshe, there were people who protested against the holy lifestyle that the newly-formed Nation of Israel was called upon to lead. They longed to return to the immorality of Egypt, and in fact, were not permitted to travel on to the Holy Land. These people cried in the doorways of their tents over the Torah laws which restricted sexual conduct to married couples only. They didn’t want to give up the immoral practices of Egypt’s perverted culture.

This same immoral culture spread out from Egypt over the world and its influences are very prevalent until this day. The dominion of the nations of the world over Israel stems from this sordid source, and only when we expel this polluted culture from our midst, will Israel gain its rightful prominence. Sexual immorality was the mainstay of Egyptian culture - men married men, and women married women, and one woman took two husbands (Rambam, Laws of Illicit Sexual Relations, 21:8). This licentious behavior is what the Torah means when it tell us: “Do not conduct yourselves after the doings of the land of Egypt” (Vayikra, 18:3). And this is the moral, physical, and spiritual pollution that we are to purify ourselves from during the weeks of Shovavim, both men and women alike.

Twice each day, in the paragraph of the Shema dealing with tzitzit, we say that Hashem took us out of Egypt to sanctify us, with special emphasis on our hearts and eyes: “Thou shall not follow after your heart and your eyes which lead you astray.” After your heart is referring to thoughts of sexual licentiousness. After your eyes refers to seeing forbidden images. For these things impair a person’s holiness and go against the goal of our leaving Egypt – to become a holy nation dedicated to serving Hashem.

STEP ONE - TIKUN AGAINST INTERNET POLLUTION
The great Sage, the Orach HaChaim HaKadosh, explains why this cleansing is dependent on guarding one’s eyes and one’s thoughts. “It is known that all of the commandments which Hashem has given to His holy nation are matters that we can do and which follow after the will to do them. One exception is separating oneself from illicit sexual conduct which a man’s nature pulls him toward with an overpowering lust if he doesn’t guard himself from two matters: seeing sexually inciting images and thinking sexual thoughts. If a man doesn’t guard himself from these two things, he cannot overcome and escape the ruling passions that stem from them. And if he tastes even a little of this poison, he will be a slave to his lusts” (on Vayikra, 18:2).

One of the greatest dangers today of falling prey to these base passions is via the Internet. Thus, the first rectification during the days of Shovavim is to rectify this damaging agent. If someone has Internet in his home and does not have a filter that prevents entering forbidden sites, and seeing erotic images, he or she must correct this immediately before any other tikun. This includes cancelling access to Internet via cell phones. Everyone must make sure that these steps are taken. Everyone! Today and not tomorrow!

TIKUN HABRIT
Our Sages explain that the bondage in Egypt began when the Jews stopped guarding the commandment of brit milah. The tribe of Levi, who continued to safeguard the covenant of the Brit, were not subjected to slavery in Egypt (Ramban, Yevamot 46). Thus the Jews were not redeemed from Egypt until they performed the Brit of circumcision on the eve of their departure (Shemot Rabbah 19). This shows that safeguarding the Brit is a key factor in personal and national redemption.

RECTIFYING PAST WRONGDOING
Many times men and women come to me (Rabbi Shmuel Eliahu) requesting a tikun (rectification) for sexual wrongs which they committed in the past. I asked my father and teacher, shlita, (Rabbi Mordechai Eliahu) for his guidance, and he told me to counsel these people to take upon themselves to fast each year once or twice, or to undertake a fast of not speaking (taanit debor), during the Shovavim period for the rest of their lives. In truth, the tikun is different for each person, since sexual wrongdoings differ from person to person. There are those who succumbed to forbidden thoughts, and others who committed forbidden deeds. There are baale tshuva who erred, and observant Jews who erred, which is far graver. There are those who committed serious transgressions, and those who committed even worse prohibitions. Some people committed one wrongdoing, while others committed many. Some people committed sins privately by themselves, and some brought others to sin with them. Thus the tikun differs from one person to the next, depending on the level of the person and the level of his sin.

The literature of the Kabbalah indicates that these tikunim (rectifications) must be effected through many difficult fasts. My father and teacher, shilta, is far more lenient. He says that the main remedy is the tikun of Shovavim, which is conducted in several fashions. There is the learning about “tikun habrit” (rectifying sexual infractions), there are special prayers for tikun habrit, there are fasts from eating, and there are fasts from speaking. My father and teacher, shilta (may he live a good and lengthy life), says that someone who has done a tikun one year should undertake the tikun every year, as it says, “my sins are before me always.”

The reason my father, HaRav, is lenient in this matter is because this period is a time of repentance, and it is proper to be lenient with baale tshuva. In addition, the Master of the World assists in the tikun. It is Hashem who circumcises our hearts and the hearts of our children. During Shovavim, the gates of Heaven are open.

END TO GLUTTONY

The book “Magid Maisharim” relates that our teacher, Rabbi Yosef Caro (compiler of the “Shulchan Aruch”) would take it upon himself to fast during the period of Shovavim. Once, the angel, “HaMagid,” who spoke with him, exhorted him to be strong in this resolve, telling him: “Know that the evil inclination, which is the Serpent, and its agents, are constantly pursuing you, and their desire is toward you, but you can overcome them. You have undertaking to fast during these weeks of Shovavim and a fast during this period is desirous in Heaven and highly accepted.”

Furthermore, he warned him not to overeat during the night between one daytime fast and the next, and not to eat out of pleasure, and not to eat when he wasn’t hungry, even when he felt weak from fasting, he should not overeat at night. Though we are not on the high level of Rabbi Yosef Caro, or of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi who didn’t take enjoyment from this world at all, we can act like them during some of the meals that we resolve not to eat, or during a part of the meals themselves, especially during the weeks of Shovavim.

YESHIVA STUDENTS ALSO!
My father and teacher, shlita (HaRav Mordechai Eliahu), says that students of Torah also should participate in the tikun of Shovavim, whether by fasting from eating or from speech, along with the congregation, or by reciting Tehillim, even by interrupting their studies, because the recital of Tehillim is like Torah study, noting that the evil inclination seeks to entice Torah scholars more than anyone else.

However if the Rosh Yeshiva does not allow students to leave the yeshiva to participate in a fast from speech with the congregation, the student should take it upon himself to undertake the fast from speech in the yeshiva where he is learning Torah. He should not speak about things unrelated to his Torah study from sunrise till nightfall. This is especially important to unmarried students because the evil inclination seeks dominion over them. Nonetheless, married students also need to be strengthened in holiness, both over the misdeeds of their youth, and errors of the present, and the future.

HOW MANY FASTS?
Some people fast by eating less than usual, while others fast completely. Some people undertake one fast during the six weeks, while others fast on each Monday and Thursday, the weekdays when the Torah is read. Still others fast for forty consecutive days, excepting Shabbat, eating at night and fasting during the day. For people who cannot fast forty consecutive days, some authorities say eighty non-consecutive days is effective, while others say sixty-eight. Still others fast three days straight, both in the day and night without eating. This is equal to forty consecutive daytime fasts. Others fast day and night the whole week excluding Shabbat. Some do this for the entire Shovavim period.

My father and teacher told about several ordinary people he knew who fasted the whole week long. People came to them to receive a blessing and the blessing came to pass. On the other hand, I was present when several people came to ask my father whether to undertake weeklong fasts during the Shovavim. He told them not to – perhaps because they came and asked.

NOT TO VOW
Whoever takes it upon himself to fast in whatever fashion during Shovavim should begin by saying “blee nader,” meaning he is not accepting the fast as a vow, which involves a permanent commitment (and punishments if broken). Rather, he should say that if he so desires to fast, he will. If he chooses not to fast, he should recite Tehillim or give tzedakah (charity) in its place. If a person doesn’t do this (specifying that it is not a vow by saying “blee nader”), and fasts once or twice, this becomes a vow even though he did not say explicitly, “Behold, this is like a vow.” It is good to recite the “Hatarat Nedarim,” the cancellation of vows, but be careful in his regret not to include the mitzvot that he performed in the past, so that they will not be canceled as well.

“TAANIT DEBOR” – A FAST FROM SPEAKING
Part of leaving the impurity of Egyptian culture was departing from the culture of immoral speech. It is not accidental that Pharoah’s name (in Hebrew) means evil mouth (pe rah). This includes heretical talk like denying G-d’s power and Kingship, and speaking falsehood, and arrogant speech, all of which Pharoah was guilty.

For a long time in Egypt, the Jews failed to pray. Moshe himself was heavy of speech, a symbol that speech was in exile. With their redemption from Egypt, their speech was redeemed as well. The Jews cried out from severe bondage. The Arizal reveals that Pesach means “pe sach” – the mouth that speaks. After leaving Egypt, Moshe began to speak freely also. In Egypt, it was difficult for the Jews to pray – when they left they were able to sing, as at the crossing of the sea.

Shovavim is a favorable time to rectify transgressions involving speech: lashon hara, tale bearing, falsehood, flattery, broken and vain oaths, cursing, and embarrassing others. Holy speech should be increased during this period, including added prayer, Torah study, and the recital of Psalms.

The Arizal advises to say to say the Amidah blessing “Tekah b’shofar gadol…” with the special intention that in addition to the actual ingathering of the exiles, the scattered holy souls exiled through sexual transgression be gathered and returned to their spiritual source. The principle rectification is Torah learning, prayer, and giving tzedakah, each person according to his capability. Especially important is studying the Oral Torah, to derive the halachah from the surrounding discussions, and in this way raise up the sparks of holiness from the husks of the “kelipot” where they have fallen, in the secret of the verse חיל בלע ויקיאנו “his strength was swallowed up and spit out” (Job, 20:15). Learning Torah for its own sake is a powerful rectification also.

The “taanit debor” was established by Rabbi Yitzhak Alafiah, of blessed memory. Unlike a regular fast, one is not physically weakened, and someone who guards his speech is rewarded with the hidden light reserved for the saintly. Therefore it is proper that everyone undertake at least one “taanit debor” during this period. One can also go without speaking for an hour or two at different times during Shovavim. A full day fast from speaking is praiseworthy. Once during each of the six weeks is even better. Some adopt the practice on every Monday and Thursday of the period. At my father and teacher’s synagogue (Rabbi Mordechai Eliahu) the “taanit debor” is conducted congregationally on Shabbat.

RULES FOR A “TAANIT DEBOR”
The fast of speaking should be from sunrise to nightfall. One is allowed to eat. One is also allowed to speak about holy matters. Most often, the fast is conducted with the congregation, but it is possible to conduct such a fast privately. If the fast is done with the congregation, it is best to eat together also, so as not to waste time traveling home to eat, with the likelihood of speaking about non holy matters, such as politics, everyday business, shopping needs for the house, and the like, even if they are important. One is not to wish others shalom, nor respond to their greetings. To avoid slighting others, it is possible to prepare a note saying, “Sorry, I am on a taanit debor.”

When conducting a “taanit debor,” Rabbi Alifiah would not speak at all, outside of reading Tehillim. It is good to read the entire Book of Psalms three times during the day. A little with kavanah (concentrated intention) is better than a lot without absorbing the words. If a person is reading the Tehillim with the congregation in the synagogue, and he is unable to maintain their pace, if they finish the Book of Psalms three times, it is considered that he did so also.

If the “taanit debor” will cause anguish to one’s wife, or diminish the pleasure of Shabbat, one should not do it. However, since profane speech is not permitted on Shabbat, a “taanit debor” on Shabbat is a very exalted thing.

All Am Yisrael should see hatzlacha raba from all their tikunim and bring Mashiach Tzidkeinu!

Days of Mashiach

Some people, who apparently spend too much time watching SCI-FI TV, have convinced themselves that the War of Gog uMagog will be an alien war fought with spaceships with even Mashiach coming out of the mothership after it lands on top of Mount Moriah where it will become the Third Temple, chas 'vchalilah!

This idea was originally popularized in the late sixties with an atheistic book called Chariots of the Gods. It was more recently resurrected in the Stargate television series. In the Jewish version, the aliens are really angels.

The prophet Yechezkel, chapter 37, gives us one perspective on Days of Mashiach:

...So says the Lord God: Behold I will take the children of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side, and I will bring them to their land. And I will make them into one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be to them all as a king; and they shall no longer be two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms anymore. And they shall no longer defile themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with all their transgressions, and I will save them from all their habitations in which they have sinned, and I will purify them, and they shall be to Me as a people, and I will be to them as a God.

And My servant David shall be king over them, and one shepherd shall be for them all, and they shall walk in My ordinances and observe My statutes and perform them. And they shall dwell on the land that I have given to My servant, to Jacob, wherein your forefathers lived; and they shall dwell upon it, they and their children and their children's children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. And I will form a covenant of peace for them, an everlasting covenant shall be with them; and I will establish them and I will multiply them, and I will place My Sanctuary in their midst forever. And My dwelling place shall be over them, and I will be to them for a God, and they shall be to Me as a people. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, Who sanctifies Israel, when My Sanctuary is in their midst forever."

Our sages already told us that Hashem wanted to make Sancheriv Gog and let King Hizkiyahu be Mashiach, but King Hizkiyahu did not offer Hashem shirah, so he was undeserving. What we see described in the prophets of Tanakh is a similar scenario where Jerusalem is surrounded and the enemy is destroyed supernaturally with a plague (Zekharyah). No spaceships required.

There is a popular source for the imagery of Mashiach coming in the clouds with an angelic army, but it's not one we Jews accept. It's called the book of Revelations and it's found in the Christians' book. At any rate, by all accounts, we are already in the midst or even near the end of geulah b'ita where Mashiach comes riding on a donkey---slowly, ploddingly, humbly.

Mashiach will come from our midst, not from some other planet. And the Third Temple will be similar to the Mishkan and the two previous Batei Hamikdash. It is a copy of what stands in Shamayim, which is in the spiritual dimension, not another part of the created universe. And we will build it, just like the others were built. This was the expectation of every generation until now.

In Shmuel Bet, chapter 5, there is an allusion to an army of angels going out ahead of David haMelech to do battle with the Philistines, but they are heard and not seen. On the other hand, there are unconfirmed reports of Syrian soldiers claiming to have seen armed soldiers arrayed against them where there were no Israeli soldiers located during one of its wars with Israel. The spiritual coexists alongside the physical and can allow itself to be seen at will.

Shimshon's parents both saw and spoke with an angel of G-d and neither knew it was an angel until after it had gone. Avraham Avinu saw and spoke with three angels in Chevron and was not immediately aware that they were angels. Apparently not very "alien"-looking.

All the prophets are clear that the entire world will know and understand that it is Hashem who has entered (again) into our reality. Not aliens.

At that time, free will is finished and the yetzer hara will be slaughtered. This will be the end of war and rebellion.

Yeshayahu, chapter 2:

And it shall be at the end of the days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be firmly established at the top of the mountains, and it shall be raised above the hills, and all the nations shall stream to it. And many peoples shall go, and they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the Lord's mount, to the house of the God of Jacob, and let Him teach us of His ways, and we will go in His paths," for out of Zion shall the Torah come forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge between the nations and reprove many peoples, and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift the sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

The Children of Israel are really hurting right now. Everyone is suffering so very much, especially children, it seems. We ask, “Why? What have they done---the innocent little children.”

Many spiritually attuned people can feel the answer to that. We are just that little bit away from Mashiach and the revelations of the End of the Age. Since we are lacking in merit, we are ‘buying’ the geulah shleimah with our suffering. We are in travail in sympathy with chevlai Mashiach and the Holy Shechinah. Just a little more and we will bring this “baby” into the world.

When the Light of Redemption fully dawns, all of the troubles and all of the pain will seem of so little consequence by comparison. No one will deny that it will have been worth it all to live in Days of Mashiach; days when death, disease and pain will be only a distant memory.

Please G-d, it should even be today!

Groveling before the goyim

Unfortunately, I was in a position today where I was forced to witness a tragic degradation of Jews and Judaism and by extension, chillul Hashem. It was doubly tragic because this was a self-imposed degradation and those involved had not a clue that anything was wrong.

A certain Sufi Muslim religious leader from Italy (hamevin yavin) is visiting Eretz Yisrael. He's traveling to places like Hevron and Jewish East Jerusalem and speaking to groups of Jews. Basically, this man asserts that the Quran is misinterpreted by the Wahabis and Jewish rights to Eretz Yisrael and Jerusalem.are not incompatible with the teachings of the Quran. It so happened that I was present where he was scheduled to give a lecture tonight.

All kinds of Jews came to see and laud this "venerable" representative of Islam. He was serenaded. Some stood up for him. From all sides I heard praise for him and his thoughts and the "courage" he demonstrated by professing them publicly. Representatives of the so-called nascent Sanhedrin and even someone from a Chaver Knesset's office attended.

Why is it that Jews can't take Hashem's or the Torah's word for it? They crave the acceptance of the goyim. And not even righteous goyim at that! I mean this man is a self-avowed leader of one of the world's largest and bloodiest false religions and one that is bent on world domination. Does anyone ask this Muslim leader about the Quran's teaching on the dhimmi status for Jews in so-called Arab lands?

Let me tell you this and hear me well. When Mashiach is here and leading us, there will never again be such an occurrence in Eretz Yisrael and how much more so in Yerushalayim. This man will be informed in no uncertain terms that he is trangressing the Laws of Bnei Noach and is not welcome to visit in Eretz Yisrael until he does teshuva and undoes all the damage he has accumulated until now by misleading other goyim into a false religion.

Mashiach's suffering is our salvation.

Pesikta Rabbati, 37:

…the Patriarchs will in the future rise up in the month of Nissan and will say to the Messiah, “Ephraim, righteous Messiah! Although we are your ancestors, you are greater than we, because you suffered for our children’s sins and underwent hardships not experienced by the early or later ones. You were the object of ridicule among the nations for Israel’s sake, and you sat in sightless gloom. Your skin shriveled on the bone and your body was as dry as wood. Your eyes lost their luster through starvation, and your strength dried up like a potsherd. All this occurred due to our children’s sins. Do you wish our children to benefit from the bounty G-d has showered on Israel? Perhaps due to the immensity of your suffering on their behalf, and the time your spent imprisoned, you are displeased with them?”

The Messiah shall reply, “Fathers of the world, all that I did, I did only for yours and your children’s sakes, for yours and your children’s glory, that they might benefit from this bounty which G-d showered upon Israel.” The Patriarchs then say, “Ephraim, righteous Messiah! You should be pleased, for you have pleased both us and G-d.”

R. Shimon ben Pazi said: “At that moment, G-d shall raise up the Messiah to the highest heavens and envelop him in His glorious splendor, before the nations of the world, the wicked Persians. He shall say: Ephraim, righteous Messiah! Judge these and do to them whatever your heart desires, for if not for overpowering mercy on your behalf, they would already have obliterated you from the universe in a moment,….

...When he leaves the prison, not one kingdom, two or three attack him, but 140 kingdoms, and G-d says, "Ephraim, righteous Messiah! fear them not, for they all shall die by the breath of your lips," as it says, "With the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked" (Isaish 11:4). G-d immediately makes the Messiah seven canopies of precious stones and pearls... and he hugs the Messiah before the righteous and brings him under the canopy, and all the righteous see him.

He shall bring light to Israel and save his people, and no nation or tongue can withstand him… All his enemies and foes flee… Even the rivers cease running…”

G-d set ground-rules for the Messiah: “In the future, the sins of these stored away with you will place you under an iron burden. They will make you like this calf whose eyes have dimmed. Their burden will suffocate your spirit. Through their sins, your tongue will cleave to your palate. Do you wish this?” The Messiah asked, “Is that pain going to last many years?” and G-d answered, “I swear by My life and yours that it shall last no longer than the year 7000. If you are unhappy with this, I will make them suffer starting now.” The Messiah replied, “Master of the Universe! Joyfully do I accept it upon myself so that not one Jew be lost… It is what I want!”…

The Rabbis said, “The week in which the Son of David comes, iron bars shall be brought and placed on his neck until he is bent over, and he will cry out tearfully until his voice ascends to Heaven. He will say, “Master of the Universe! How long can my strength hold out? My spirit? My soul? My limbs? Am I not flesh and blood?”…

G-d will then reply, “Ephraim, Righteous Messiah! You undertook this from the Six Days of Creation. Now, your pain will be like Mine, for since Nebuchadnezzar went up and destroyed My house and burnt My sanctuary and exiled My children among the nations, I swear to you that I have never sat down upon My throne; and if you do not believe Me, observe the dew that has settled on My head”… The Messiah will respond, “Master of the Universe! Now I am consoled. It suffices for the slave to be like his master.”

David HaMelech spoke often of Mashiach in his Tehillim. Number 45 is one example:

…”You are beautiful beyond other men, charm is poured upon your lips, therefore God has blessed you for eternity. Gird your sword upon your thigh, O mighty one – your majesty and your splendor. And with your splendor, overcome and ride over your enemies, for the sake of truthfulness and righteous humility; may your right hand guide you to awesome deeds. Your arrows are sharp --- nations beneath you fall --- they fall in the heart of the foes of the king. Your throne, O ruler, is forever and ever. For the scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore has God, your God, anointed you, with oil of joy, from among your peers. Myrrh, aloes, and cassia, are the fragrance of all your garments --- from ivory palaces, from those which have gladdened you. Daughters of kings are your visitors, the queen stands erect at your right in the golden jewelry of Ophir. Hear, O maiden, and see, and incline your ear; forget your people and your father’s house --- then the king will desire your beauty; for he is your master, and bow to him.

Remember when we were in the Midbar after our great exodus from Egypt, when the Erev Rav started a complaint against Hashem for meat to eat?

(Bamidbar 11)

...the multitude among them began to have strong cravings. Then even the children of Israel once again began to cry, and they said, "Who will feed us meat? We remember the fish that we ate in Egypt free of charge, the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

And Hashem's reply:

...'Prepare yourselves for tomorrow and you shall eat meat, because you have cried in the ears of the Lord saying, "Who will feed us meat, for we had it better in Egypt." [Therefore,] the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. You shall eat it not one day, not two days, not five days, not ten days, and not twenty days. But even for a full month until it comes out your nose and nauseates you. Because you have despised the Lord Who is among you, and you cried before Him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?"'

And this explains why we are suffering so much today. First because we complain and then because we tell each other how much better it is anywhere else but in Eretz Yisrael. We spurn the very idea of going 'backwards' to a monarchy. We pride ourselves on being the "only democracy in the Middle East" and a friend and ally of the "only Superpower" in the world.

How many times have I heard 'religious' Anglo Jews brag about how great things would be here if only the Israelis would run the country more like America. Listen, America is not as great as you remember, just like the food in Egypt was not as great as we remembered it in the Midbar. Hashem is doing something miraculous here with us. Show some appreciation. Stop complaining. And never compare Eretz Yisrael unfavorably with any other land. Otherwise, we risk much.

...The meat was still between their teeth; it was not yet finished, and the anger of the Lord flared against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very mighty blow. He named that place Kivroth Hata'avah [Graves of Craving], for there they buried the people who craved.

What is going on now in this country can be compared to getting our fill of so-called democracy until we are ready to puke from it. Only when we've gotten that all out of our system and are willing to submit to Hashem's will in the form of government He deems right for us will the suffering stop.

And all of this still has to happen before Mashiach can be revealed. Can you imagine anyone choosing Bibi or Barak or Tsipi Livni over Mashiach? Let me tell you, in today's reality, Mashiach would never win against any of these losers. I'm afraid we will have to get a lot more fed up with this government before we are ready to elect Mashiach to power and be willing to submit ourselves to the authority of a restored Sanhedrin.

Moshe Rabbeinu reincarnates in every generation.

"...only when all of the reincarnations of Hevel are complete, which is Moshe Rabbeinu, who reincarnates in every generation to separate out the souls from amongst the spiritual waste, will Moshiach come, and death will be absorbed forever. (Sha’ar HaGilgulim, Ch. 20)

In the future Moshe himself will reincarnate and return in the last generation, as it says, “you will die with your fathers and rise up.” However, in the final generation, the “Dor HaMidbar” will also reincarnate with the Erev Rav, and this is what the verse also says, “this people will rise up.” Hence, there is not a single generation in which Moshe Rabbeinu does not return b’sod, “The sun rises and the sun sets” (Koheles 1:5) and, “One generation goes and another comes” (Koheles 1:4), in order to rectify that generation. Thus, the Generation of the Desert along with the Erev Rav reincarnate in the final generation, “like in the days of leaving Egypt” (Michah 7:15). (Sha’ar HaGilgulim, Ch. 20)"

His soul is the potential Mashiach in each generation. If we had been ready to receive him; if we had been ready to accept his leadership, then we would already have been redeemed. Each time we did not merit it, the opportunity was lost and passed on to the next generation.

However, in the last generation, it's not possible that those who are not ready will prevent the redemption from arriving, G-d forbid!

It is no coincidence that the name "Gilad" is mentioned in Shirat Devorah and the name "Gilad" Shalit figures so prominently in the news here at the End of Days. I think that we will soon see that Gilad's release from Hamas captivity is connected to the revelation of Mashiach Tzidkeinu.

Here is an interesting excerpt from a letter I received last week:

"...the most amazing example of the impossible unfolding before our eyes is the story of Moshe growing up in Pharaoh's place. Not only was the decree that Pharaoh issued to kill all the males not heeded in Moshe's case, but he grew up right under the nose of Pharaoh, who had foreseen that the redeemer of the Jewish people would be born - and he did all he could to stop it from happening. Still, when it came to fulfilling Hashem's plan of Redemption, nothing could be done to stop it. And as it usually works out, Redemption comes to the Jewish people from the impossible."

It's entirely possible that Mashiach is at one and the same time hidden from view and yet standing in the public spotlight, sort of hidden in plain sight, like the lion in this picture.

Mashiach's wife

We have a few sources which confirm that Moshe Rabeinu divorced his wife Tsiporah, since he was unable to continue being a husband to her. His relationship with Hashem required that he be in a constant state of purity. It was the questioning of this situation that caused Sister Miriam’s well-meaning lashon hara with Brother Aharon HaCohen that resulted in her affliction with tzara’at.

In her new book Women at the Crossroads: A Woman's Perspective on the Weekly Torah Portion, Rebbetzin Chana Bracha Siegelbaum writes (in part), on Parashat Ha'alotcha:

Will also Mashiach have to separate from his wife in order to achieve his spiritual purpose?

A person consists of both body and soul. The woman is compared to the body, whereas the man is compared to the soul (Zohar 1:35a). Chana Weisberg, in The Crown of Creation, explains that according to the holy Zohar, the essence of the physical existence of the body originates from a higher level of G-dliness than even the spiritual soul. Since the body has descended further from its exalted origin, it is currently on a lower level. In the messianic era, the true essence of the body will be revealed, and the soul will derive spiritual nutrition from the body. Although Mashiach will be the epitome of holiness, he will not be detached from the physical like Moshe, but will have the capability of synthesizing spirituality with materiality. From this we can infer that Mashiach will not have to separate from his wife, as did Moshe. On the contrary, the relationship with his wife will empower him to achieve the ultimate spiritual rectification of all humanity.

Again from Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh:

"The image of Mashiach coming in through the door, is the image of the long lost groom reuniting with his beloved bride, as described in the Song of Songs."

Yes, it mirrors “… the union of the Jewish People with God and of the entire world with God.” But the pshat is true as well.

Which Mashiach?

I was intrigued today by something I read on the Tomer Devorah blog. She has recently been discussing the growing division between Torah-true Jews and anti-Torah, or Hellenistic, Jews. In a subsequent post, she stated, “Mashiach will conquer by force of arms before peace will reign across the world.”

“Jewish Jihad,” as a term, might be a bit strong, but it’s true that Judaism originated the concept of Holy War. No other people on the face of the earth had ever gone to war in the Name of Hashem until the Israelites did. In fact, a case might be made for Levi and Shimon’s decimation of Shechem being the first instance of such a war. It wasn’t just that their sister had been violated, but that this was the daughter of Yaakov, the father of the Jewish nation, who represented Hashem in the world.

Our situation will be similar to what occurred when Moshe Rabeinu first returned to Mitzrayim. Things got much worse before they began to get better.

And so it will be when Mashiach arrives. Anyone who thinks that immediately upon his arrival, everything will turn wonderful is in for a rude awakening.

Mashiach will himself be a cause for division. People will either love him or hate him. Under his leadership, all the dire consequences which the Erev Rav warn about will surely come about. Yes, we will be perceived by many as “Taliban” Jews; reverting to a “third-world country.” They will call us “racists, “bigots” and worse. There will be religious coercion since “religious” law is the law of the land and we coerce civil law. It is only in the minds of westerners that religion is a private matter and not a communal one. Tolerance and pluralism and democracy, which are nice words for society- and soul-destroying concepts, will no longer be used to undermine Torah in the Jewish land. False religions will be abolished from the holy land along with their unholy places and their followers, propagators and sympathizers. But anyone who believes that following Torah will lead to practicing Islam does not know the Torah or the G-d of the Torah.

This is all in the beginning, of course, because as the world slowly begins to see how the ways of Torah lead to peace and pleasantness among brothers, the remnant of the nations will praise us and thank us. As it says in Tehillim (97):

“When Hashem will reign, the world will rejoice; numerous islands will be glad. …Humiliated will be all who worship idols, who pride themselves in worthless gods;…. Zion will hear and be glad, and the daughters of Judah will exult, because of your judgments, Hashem.”

Were you expecting something different? Another kind of Mashiach maybe? If what I’ve written disturbs you, then I would suggest that your Judaism needs a check-up. Your pure and unadulterated Torah may be coated with layers of assimilated ideas, even to the point of being unrecognizable. Everyone must take a good, hard look into his own soul and judge for himself, if he is really ready to receive Mashiach.

I've received some interesting questions via email. I am not at liberty to answer all of them, but I'm happy to answer those which are permitted.

Someone asks: "Why the delay and the evil edicts against us?"

These are two questions. In answer to the first, as is well known, we have not merited redemption in haste, so now we must work our way through the slow and prodding and painful process of redemption in its time. It only seems "delayed" because we want it right now. But "in its time" means that it is set, like an appointment, for an hour and a day and a year. And when that moment arrives, nothing can stop it, not even our unworthiness.

In answer to the second, I take a bit of exception to the use of the word "evil." It connotes something in opposition to "good." However, these decrees are obviously from Hashem and we know that everything that comes from Hashem is for the ultimate good. It's time we grew up spiritually and stopped thinking in terms of evil vs. good and understand, as is known at the highest levels, that all is good---gam zu letovah! (I say this to myself, first and foremost.)

Our beginning and our final destination are set and unchangeable, but the route by which we choose to reach our destination---or our destiny,which is the same thing---is where our free will comes into play. We can choose the quick, easy route or the long, hard way. This idea is most notably illustrated in yetziat Mitzrayim. We were an eleven day journey from the Promised Land, but because of our sins, it took us forty years and countless heartaches.

Rabbi Mendel Kessin explains it this way:

"A mitzvah is not an end in itself, it is a tikun device for fixing creation. If we don't do mitzvoth, there is a second device which accomplishes the same thing. That's teshuva. But if we don't do teshuva, then there is yet a third device that will get the job done and that is yisurim---suffering. Suffering is not for punishment. It is for tikun."

Yeranen Yaakov asks a very deep question on his blog today: "...is it true that FFBs could not become Mashiah?"

I'd like to offer my response to that question here. In a way, isn't every "FFB" who has a real and dynamic relationship with HaKadosh Baruch Hu, also a "BT." A personal and ongoing relationship with Hashem, which is what He desires most from each of us, is not something one can be born into or which can be passed down. We have to discover it and develop it for ourselves. The great advantage of being "FFB" is that all the raw materials for building this relationship are already provided for you and the foundation has already been laid. The classic "BT" has to go out and find the materials, drag them back home and build his own foundation from scratch before he can begin to build upon it.

Mashiach could very well come from a traditional family with a very strong and positive Jewish identity, but with an emphasis on secular knowledge and menschlikeit, rather than Torah learning and observance of mitzvot. He was/is very attached spiritually and emotionally to Eretz Yisrael, like Moshe Rabeinu before him, Mashiach was likely placed into an environment which would enhance his ability to both reject anti-Torah values and to relate to every Jew.

The people are talking of little else but the settlement freeze and the prisoner exchange. So many are so upset and with clear reason. Every straight-thinking Jew understands that appeasing our enemies and giving in to foreign pressure is a recipe for further disaster.

Be prepared, geulah-watchers. This will not be the way of Mashiach. He will not make deals and he will not consult polls. If one of our enemies dares to raise his head and take what is ours, Mashiach will act upon the faith of his fathers and follow in their footsteps:

AVRAHAM AVINU

And Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, and he armed his trained men, those born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and he pursued [them] until Dan. And he divided himself against them at night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them until Hobah, which is to the left of Damascus. And he restored all the possessions, and also Lot his brother and his possessions he restored, and also the women and the people. (B’reishit 14)

…And David and his men came to the city, and behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been captured. And David was in dire straits, for the people spoke of stoning him, for the soul of all the people was grieved, each man concerning his sons and concerning his daughters; but David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. Be prepared, because many have allowed their minds to be warped by foreign values and Mashiach's initial actions may cause them great discomfort or even pain. Now is the time to begin to adjust your thoughts and your perspective and ready yourself to accept the great change that is coming.

I am full of thoughts of Mashiach tonight. Hanukah begins in one week. This is the time when the Light of Thirty-six, the Primordial Light that Hashem set aside for the righteous, begins to shine in the world. I am full of hope that Mashiach will soon arrive and all of us will gaze on his sweet face and know without any doubt that Hashem fulfills all of His promises.

You should understand, however, that it's possible many good, religious Jews will not recognize him at first. He is perhaps not what most religious people are expecting as their Mashiach. Unfortunately, we look too much to externals, especially clothing (remember “Mashiach’s Hat?”) and we misjudge many people because of this. It will be no different with Mashiach. Those whose hearts are completely and unreservedly set on Truth will know him immediately. But that’s ok. There will be time. Hashem wants Mashiach to prove himself through his good deeds on behalf of Am Yisrael. And he is so eager to get started!

Mashiach has a heart for every Jew and he connects with every Jew on some level. He stands right in the middle of it all like the hub of a wheel around which all the many spokes turn, pulling us all together as one nation. And we will be one nation again, as Hashem intended, and this is only one of the wonderful things Mashiach will accomplish.

Mashiach has known since he was very young that he was destined for greatness. When he was still just a boy, he liked to embellish his stories a bit to make himself seem more important. At least that's how some perceived it. Adults were often critical of him and saw it as a character flaw, but it was only an expression of what he knew in his heart to be true.

It reminds me of our forefathers:

Yosef HaTsadik...

And Joseph dreamed a dream and told his brothers, and they continued to hate him. And he said to them, "Listen now to this dream, which I have dreamed: Behold, we were binding sheaves in the midst of the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright, and behold, your sheaves encircled [it] and prostrated themselves to my sheaf." So his brothers said to him, "Will you reign over us, or will you govern us?" And they continued further to hate him on account of his dreams and on account of his words. (B'reishit 37)

...and David HaMelech...

And David arose early in the morning, and he left the sheep with a keeper; and he carried off and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the barricade, and the army which was going out to the battle array, shouted in the battle. And the Israelites and the Philistines put the battle in array, army against army. And David said to the men who were standing before him, saying, "What shall be done to the man who slays that Philistine, and takes away reproach from Israel, for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the ranks of the living God?" And Eliab, his eldest brother, heard when he spoke to the men, and Eliab's wrath was kindled against David, and he said, "Why have you come down? With whom have you left those few sheep in the desert? I know your impetuousness, and the evil of your heart, for you have come down in order to see the war." And David said, "What have I done now? Is it not but a word?" (Shmuel A 17)

We must be very careful how we attribute the motives of others. Especially children and young adults who are still very much connected to the heart of their souls and have not yet been convinced by the adult world that their dreams and feelings are meaningless.

When I was a little girl, I had a child-sized wooden table and chairs. I distinctly remember putting the chair on top of the table and very precariously climbing up onto it. From that height, I reigned as a queen and issued orders to my palace guards who looked suspiciously like my three little brothers.

Who really knows who one has been in a previous lifetime or who one will turn out to be in this one?

Confusing times require clear thinking

The generation of Mashiach---our generation---is living through some very confusing times. We look at the news and we see that all of the nations---Eisav as well as Yishmael---are standing against us and threatening to rip Yerushalayim from us. The last superpower of the world insists that we must tear good and faithful Jewish families from their homes and hand our heritage over to bloodthirsty Arabs who have been attacking us all these years.

Then there are those who call themselves Jews, who egotistically grasp the reins of power and assume the leadership over us, who wickedly reject Hashem and His Torah and never miss an opportunity to attack the good Jews who remain faithful to Hashem and to His covenant. They assist our enemies and degrade us by all means at their disposal. It makes us wonder if Hashem hears or cares. It makes us worry whether the prophecies of all the good in store for us are really true or if we have believed errantly in fairy tales.

Is Mashiach like Superman who will come to earth with superhuman powers and right all the wrongs; rescue the downtrodden; and punish all the evildoers? In a word---yes!
He is Hashem's designated agent and by virtue of his lofty soul and the spiritual anointing from Hashem (which is why we call him Mashiach---"anointed one"), he will be the ultimate man of truth and justice and will be given great power over the nations of the world and the enemies of G-d.

Take a look at this excerpt from the writings of Rav Yitzchak Ginsburgh:

Chimney, Window, or Door
There is a Chassidic idiom that says that Mashiach may come through the chimney (arubah, beginning with the letter alef), or possibly will fly through the window (chalon, beginning with the letter chet) or will enter through the door (delet, beginning with the letter dalet). The first letters of each of these possible entry points, alef, chet, dalet, spell "one" (אחד). These three possibilities for Mashiach's arrival are the three images for which we aspire when we think of his coming. While the appearance of Mashiach in the chimney is extraordinary, his entrance through the window is less so. The Mashiach walking in through the door is the most natural of the three.

Mashiach Down the Chimney
Mashiach can be anything and is everything. While we can easily imagine a human Mashiach entering through the door, the image of a chimney most clearly associates to smoke and fire. In Kabbalah, "smoke," (in Hebrew: "ashan"; see the Torah Portion of Yitro) is an acronym for all dimensions of reality: space, time and soul. Mashiach's first task is to completely do away with evil and suffering. The image of Mashiach as smoke is the image of burning away all evil on earth. The obliteration of evil is the necessary starting point for Mashiach, but from there he must progress.

Mashiach Through the Window
The image of something flying in through the window is the image of a bird. In the Zohar it is written that while Mashiach waits to redeem us, he sits in a bird's nest. The numerical value of the Hebrew word for "bird," tzipor, (376) is equal to the numerical value of shalom, "peace." After obliterating evil and suffering, the Mashiach then turns to bringing absolute, universal peace on earth. Many people mistakenly think that the apex of the Mashiach's mission is to bring peace. However, the Mashiach must also proceed to the next stage, and enter through the door.

Mashiach Through the Door
The image of Mashiach coming in through the door, is the image of the long lost groom reuniting with his beloved bride, as described in the Song of Songs. It is the union of the Jewish People with God and of the entire world with God. When we meditate on echad, we connect to this experience of infinite love of delights. It is the ultimate manifestation in our souls of God's perfect unity, and is the most essential of the three images. As explained above, the numerical value of ahavah, "love," (13) is the same as echad. God's absolute oneness manifests as the love of delights between Him and Israel.

...The Elements
The 3-staged progression of Mashiach's arrival is beautifully illustrated according to the four elements. The Mashiach comes to redeem people, represented by the element of earth or dust. He first manifests through the chimney as fire, and then through the window as wind. Finally, he manifests through the door as water.

Such confusing times must not lead us into confused thinking. Confusing times require clear thinking. We must have no doubts that all of the prophecies for our ultimate good at the End of Days are trustworthy and sure. As it says in the prophets:

"Will I bring to the birth stool and not cause to give birth?" says the Lord. "Am I not He who causes to give birth, now should I shut the womb?" says your God. (Yeshayahu 66,9)

We must be absolutely convinced in our own minds that the Torah & Prophets are true and we can rely upon them, no matter how it looks at the superficial level. Our situation can change in a moment, in the blink of an eye. And it will, without a doubt!

Take heart! Mashiach is coming!!

Say it with me, as the Rambam so eloquently put it in his twelfth statement of faith: “I believe with a full heart in the coming of the Messiah, and even though he may tarry I will still wait for him.”

And the wait will really be worth it. Take it from me!

Shalom and blessings from Zion, the Holy City of G-d!

Which do you find harder to believe? That Mashiach would have a wife or that Mashiach's Wife would write a blog? I know. It amazes even me! But what's a woman to do while separated from her husband until his 'appointed time'?

Mashiach is in protective custody, in a manner of speaking, while being prepared for his entrance onto the world's stage. Oh yes, he's here and anxious to get about the business of Redemption. After all, he, like the rest of us, has been waiting for this for thousands of years.

I thought it would help to pass the time productively if I shared my thoughts and insights, using this tool to help us all focus on the reality of Days of Mashiach. Even Mashiach's Wife needs to remind herself that the waiting, too, has its end.
